I had a very disappointing experience at York St John University. In my first year, I was involved in an academic misconduct issue related to only one module. I felt that my perspective as a student was not fully considered during the process. Despite this being a single module in my first year, the decision resulted in withdrawal from the course, and no alternative options, such as repeat module or repeating the year, were offered. What was particularly concerning was the apparent inconsistency in how rules were applied. Some students in the same academic year were allowed to repeat the year and continue their studies, while many others, including myself, were not given any such options. This raised serious concerns about fairness and equal treatment. I also observed situations where students involved in misconduct cases appeared to receive different outcomes under similar circumstances. This lack of transparency and consistency made the process feel unfair and difficult to trust. In addition, student support services were extremely unhelpful. I visited the Student Hub four to five times but did not receive clear guidance or meaningful responses. There was no visible dedicated support for international students, and communication from the visa department was very poor, with emails and queries going unanswered. Furthermore, results were released very late, and after this delay, I was informed that I would need to complete all procedures again from my home country, with no flexibility or alternatives provided. This added significant stress and uncertainty during an already challenging period. Overall, the experience felt unsupportive, inconsistent, and disproportionate. I expected a more transparent, fair, and student-focused approach, particularly for first-year and international students. I will never recommend this university to anyone.
Worst four years of my life. Save yourself the trouble. You’re simply a statistic to them. For a school that prides itself on its “inclusion”, they don’t care about working class/lower class students whatsoever. My personal tutor would speak to me as if I was stupid. It was humiliating and has been detrimental to my mental health.
For international student, I don’t think this is a good university from my experience. They didn’t support the student at all first you will ask to pay all the tuition fee and later on if you fail one module they will terminate you and they will not listen anything from the student site and they didn’t support the student. However what condition is going with the student? So there are a lot of university in UK Please especially under graduate student do not choose this university a lot of Student have been withdrawn from this university due to academic conduct Which is very, very rare in other university.
I had a very disappointing experience with York St John University, especially with the way the administration, finance, and visa teams handle student concerns. It feels like the university is quick to take money from international students but fails to support them when it comes to fair treatment, refunds, or clear guidance. This kind of negligence and ignorance towards students is unacceptable. I am really disappointed and would not recommend York St John University to anyone looking for transparency, accountability, or genuine student support and education.
