The Cut & Craft York

Booked to celebrate my husband's birthday and had a great time. The booking process was quick and easy online. It was also easy to add that we were celebrating a birthday, which was remembered when we arrived too. The atmosphere was bustling but still ambient enough we could talk easily between us. Our service was friendly and fast. Our food and drink orders also arrived quickly. We had starters and mains. Both courses arrived in good time and were tasty. The steak was great, but the fish dish I had wasn't as good as I had hoped - possibly because I didn't like the sauce, rather than it being a bad dish. After we'd eaten, we got a complimentary ice cream and candle which was a nice birthday touch! Overall, a tasty meal with a good environment.

Stopped by on the off chance we could grab a table, restaurant looked great from the outside and inside also. Staff sorted us a table and helped us with getting our drinks order sorted. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially with our son. I had the french onion soup for starter which was tasty, I was saving myself for a steak dinner so had to begrudgingly choose a smaller starter. Our steaks weren't great, for me they had been frozen due to the cooked texture being flakey and lacking flavour for a ribeye. This was disappointing as for around £38 (from memory) for a steak with zero sides I'd expect it to be fresh. This being the main part of the meal does reduce my overall rating of this otherwise great restaurant. The sides we ordered were tasty, especially the charred cabbage. A special shout out for the wine menu, absolutely fantastic selection!! I would visit here again for the friendly atmosphere and good service.

I was recommended to book this restaurant, I am so glad he did. It’s the first night out with my wife with no children for nearly 10 years lol. The restaurant looks stunning with very friendly staff. The food was amazing and the service was incredible. We started off with the Octopus ( the best I have ever had ) and for main course I ordered the sirloin steak, again perfectly cooked. I cannot wait to book again.

An excellent restaurant with excellent cuisine, I have never eaten such wonderful steaks anywhere else - it is simply something incredible, therefore Five stars 5*. If it were possible to give 6*, I would give 7*. Yes, it is expensive, but this is a Steak House. At the same time, I did not expect that the most ordinary steak on duty for £16 would be simply incredible - soft and very tasty. You do not even need to cut it - it is already cut and you only have to take a piece, put it in your mouth and ... drown. Just drown in an ocean of pleasure! For the first time in 8 years of living in the UK I ate a relatively inexpensive, but such a delicious steak! I will soon start rapping about this steak. Everything else was also excellent - French fries under parmesan cheese with some very tasty sauce, then there were desserts, I tried two and both were excellent, especially the peach mousse. The service is a separate praise! I'm a little confused, but I got the impression that our table for 4 people was served by 4 or 5 waiters. Moreover, the service system is worked out to the smallest detail, everyone knows their business and supports their colleague. Needless to say, there were no empty seats in the hall, it was necessary to book a table in advance, but it was worth it. I really liked the interior design of the restaurant hall, but what I did not expect was the magnificent interior of the lobby in front of the toilets, and the toilets themselves were very clean and very well done. It often happens that the restaurant hall is decorated very well, but this is where the care for customers ends. But here everything is different - everything is thought out to the smallest detail and nothing spoils the impression of the wonderful cuisine of the restaurant. Of course, next time I come to York, I will book a table in this restaurant in advance. I can safely recommend everyone to enjoy lunch or dinner in this restaurant, I am sure you will get a lot of pleasure!

Beautiful decor and atmosphere, food was delicious highly recommend the king prawn with sourdough starter (hint of chilli but nothing too spicy) and the pork and black pudding starter both were perfect size and taste amazing (pictures below). We also had fish (haddock) and chips with minted mushy peas and tartar sauce. Service was quick and servers were very friendly looking forward to going back when next in York.
