Why Celebrate Yorkshire Day?
Yorkshire Day is celebrated annually on 1st August, honouring the rich heritage and culture of the region. It’s a day to appreciate the unique contributions Yorkshire has made to history, art, and cuisine. This event at Middlethorpe Hall offers a rare opportunity not only to enjoy fine dining but also to immerse oneself in the storytelling that brings the county's past to life.
Alicia Stabler, better known as Mad Alice, expressed her excitement about the event, stating, "Yorkshire has given the world some wonderful things... spectacular scenery, proper Yorkshire puddings, stubborn folk, and more executions, ghosts, and scandal than you can shake a pitchfork at! So what better way to celebrate Yorkshire Day than with good food, good company, and a few delightfully dreadful tales?"
Lady Peckett also highlighted the significance of the day, promising an afternoon filled with history and humour, ensuring guests will leave with both a satisfied appetite and a wealth of stories to share.
