Conor Fitzsimmons to stay at York RLFC for 2025

York RLFC fans, get ready to cheer, because Conor Fitzsimmons is staying for another year! Thanks to Squadbuilder, the 26 year old forward has signed a new deal to keep him with the Knights through 2025. This is his third year with the club and fans will be over the moon.

A rugby league journey

Fitzsimmons joined York before the 2023 season after impressing at Workington Town. In two years with the Knights he’s made 53 appearances and scored 9 tries. He’s been a reliable performer and always gets the job done on the pitch and is a fan favourite.

But Fitzsimmons’ rugby league career didn’t start at York. The Cumbrian talent started out at Castleford Tigers where he made 2 first team appearances. From there he moved to Newcastle Thunder before finding his feet at Workington Town in 2020. Now at York he’s proving to be a key player.

Coach’s comments and future hopes

York RLFC head coach Mark Applegarth is delighted with Fitzsimmons’ contract extension. On his contributions he said:

“I’m really happy we’ve got Fitzy over the line for next year. He showed glimpses of what he can do last year and the challenge for him this year is to do it on a consistent basis and really earn that spot in the team.”

That’s the consistency Applegarth was talking about. He’s got confidence in him because of what he’s shown and what he can still do.
