We went to attend the Sunday mass and glad we chose this church. A beautiful sung mass and we also made it for the afternoon Vesper prayer. Both time we felt the church is special.🥰 The experience is something that made our trip to York even more special.
Compared to York Cathedral, this is a small church. Although it is not very eye-catching, the decoration at the entrance is also very spectacular. You can admire it here and then enter the York Cathedral in front of you.
It was the first anniversary of my father’s passing, and since I live alone in the UK, I couldn’t be there on the day. I went to light a candle for my father, who was a Catholic, even though I am not a Catholic myself. I sat quietly in the church for a while to pay my respects, and as I was about to leave, the Mass began. That’s how I unexpectedly got to participate in the Mass, which became a meaningful experience for me. I pass by the church every morning on my way to and from work, and now I find myself noticing it as a much more special place. Thank you for letting it be there to open.
Absolutely stunning church with a set of brilliant priests. The music during mass is always incredible; the organ instrumentals are some of the best I’ve heard in the UK. There was a particularly beautiful rendition of Christus Vincit at Easter that I haven’t stopped thinking about since. Great community feel - makes me wish I lived closer to York. A place of reverence and beauty.
Beautiful church. Mass was very beautiful and conducted with respect. Pamphlets are at the entrance to guide the congregation through the mass. Small giftshop at the entrance. Stained glass windows are pretty. Pews are wooden and old, a little rough on the knees. Confession is 30 minutes before each mass and the priest stays a little after the procession.
