Liz & Karl welcome you to stay in their refurbished farm house set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

The farm is located on the outskirts of the market town of Skipton, the gateway to the Dales.

Nestling on the edge of the village of Embsay, Crown Cottage offers a quite and peaceful retreat with wonderful views of the surrounding country side.

Crown Cottage is a great base to explore the Yorkshire Dales, with Skipton a couple of miles away with it's markets on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

At the top of the High Street you will find Skipton Castle dating back to 1310 when Robert Clifford was appointed the first Lord Clifford of Skipton and Guardian of Craven.

The Leeds/Liverpool canal passes through Skipton, here you can take a boat trip from the canal basin.There are lots of very good pubs and restaurants in Skipton and Embsay has two excellent pubs within walking distance of the farm which serve food.

The Spa town of Harrogate is just 20 miles away and historic York 40 miles. Bronte Country and Haworth Steam railway are a short drive away.

Leave the car and explore the moor and reservoir behind the farm and walk to the top of Embsay Crag or take a trip to Bolton Abbey and ramble around the ruins of Bolton Priory and over the stepping stones.

Stroll by the River Whafe and head up into Strid Wood. Further up the river you come to Barden Towers, built in the 16th century. From here you can follow the river up to Howgill, Appletreewick, Burnsall, over the swing bridge at Hebden and up to Grassington.

Set in five acres of land the farm is home to Liz's two Kune Kune pigs Ginger and Pickle. In the spring we have sheep and lambs. We also have hens supplying free range eggs for breakfast.

Talking of breakfast, there are lot's to choose from including cereals, yoghurt, fresh friut salad, grapefriut segments, prunes, and friut juice.
Sausages and cured bacon from our own pig's, egg's poached, scrambled or fried, mushroom and tomatoes.
The bread is made by a local farmer's wife. Preserves and marmalade are home made or locally sourced. Tea (Yorkshire) and Coffee from Taylor's of Harrogate.

Crown Cottage offers you the following accommodation:-

1 Double room with en-suite, 1 Twin room with en-suite, and 1 Single with house bathroom.
All bathrooms have complimentary toiletries, bath and hand towels. All the rooms are centrally heated and have tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers.

The lounge area is a great place to relax with a hot drink(or a glass of wine!) and a good book after a hard days sightseeing and taking in the local area. It is very cosy on a cold night with the wood burning stove going.The lounge also has a television and free wifi internet is available.
