The Crown Hotel

Stayed here for business, apparently I was in a superior room… I would say it was a normal room. Bed was ok, standard tea and coffee setup nothing special, no water in bottles which would have been nice. Making a coffee and trying to fit the kettle under the bathroom tap was fun… not. Sash windows banging in the wind, and no noise reduction from the main road. Lights poor in room, have 2 switches at bedside but only 1 does something. Room cold, one radiator which was on full, bathroom had a towel radiator which was cold even though on full. Extractor fan in bathroom didn’t work so bathroom steamed after shower. Had food in the restaurant which was ok and service was good. It’s not a bad hotel but needs work to make it great.

Lovely hotel, rooms quiet and spread out (not in the main part of the hotel) car parking is 24 hours payable separately and on first come first served basis. Beds were super comfy perhaps a little too soft for my back and my partners but had a good night's sleep all the same. Shower was amazing and well stocked with toiletries. Bar staff amazing and friendly and welcoming. Stayed 2 nights would have been nice to see room tea/coffee and snacks restocked when asked was told thats only for arrival only.

Do not come here for the coffee. It tastes godawful. It tasted like they use those cheap pod machines rather than an espresso machine. And it tasted like the machine hadn't been cleaned for a while at that. Really odd and funky taste. I even asked for my cup to be remade, and it came back no different. Afterwards I went to Coopland's across the road, where they use freshly ground beans, and it was a much better cup. 4 star hotel? Is that out of 10? Expected better from this place.

We used the crown to celebrate my sisters 40th birthday party in the Hogarth room catering for around 30 guests. The events team were great to deal with and the whole day went so smoothly. They even gave us an events organiser for the day. Can’t recommend them enough.

From checking in to checking out, each of our needs were adhered to quickly, professionally and politely. Staff went above and beyond for my family, ensuring my little boy was happy and comfortable. Fantastic hotel with great facilities! We will return!
