My dear Emporium of Bulk and Banality, It is I again, Katherine C. Trousers, gliding down your aisles like a retired Admiral in search of anchovies and absolution. What a cathedral you are! Fluorescent nave, frozen-food transepts, and a choir of beeping tills singing “Unexpected Item in the Bagging Area” as if it were plainsong. I come for milk and leave with feelings. I come for a single lemon and depart with three, because your fruit section winks at me like a saucy duchess. “Buy me,” it says. “I’m on Clubcard.” And who am I to resist a good deal? A gentleman must have principles, but he must also have points. Your bakery, Tesco, is a warm bosom in a cold world. The loaves rise like hopeful young officers, the croissants recline with continental confidence. I have lingered there too long, breathing in the steam, thinking of Paris and pensions and the time I nearly bought a pain au chocolat twice. The security man coughed. I saluted. We understood one another. And the aisles! Aisle 7, home of condiments and quiet temptation. Aisle 12, where the razors whisper of youth and the aftershave promises adventure I no longer require but still appreciate. I tested a scent on my wrist and thought, “Steady on, Katherine, you’re only here for bin liners.” Your staff are heroes in polyester. The lad on produce, the lady on tills, the oracle at Customer Services who knows the mysteries of returns and the deep magic of a lost receipt. I once asked where the tinned peaches were and she looked into my soul before pointing me toward Syrup and Redemption. As for the car park—ah, the ballet of trolleys! Steel swans gliding, bumping, flirting, locking eyes by the coin slot. I, too, have a coin. I, too, know the thrill of release. Keep doing what you do, Tesco of Bradford. Keep stacking, keep scanning, keep offering two-for-one on things I never meant to desire. I will be back, straight-backed, soft-hearted, card in hand, humming to myself and pretending I only need one item. Yours in loyalty and loose change, Katherine C. Trousers P.S. The self-checkout called me “Unexpected.” At my age, I consider that a compliment.

I would like to raise awareness about a checkout staff member named Mudassar. I’ve noticed that he tends to look at women in a way that feels uncomfortable and inappropriate. He has done this in my case as well. This has made my shopping experience uneasy, which is disappointing because I chose Tesco for its reputation for excellent customer service. While he seems very sweet with his fellow Tesco staff, I hope the management takes action on Mudassar and reminds all employees that customers deserve better respect and professionalism. This is a sensitive matter, and I just want to ensure that Tesco remains a place where everyone feels safe and comfortable while shopping. I hope tesco values it's customer.

Only pop in now and again if we have to as they stock certain products we like but if it wasn't for that I'd avoid it like the plague . Just visited and mortified to see folk in their pajamas and dressing gowns at 13.30, why aren't they denied entry, surely that's no acceptable in a food establishment, come on Tesco get a grip !.
