I used this Solicitor in 2018 for residential mortgage and the service was top-notched. This was when Tony was still an employee, as I was told Tony left just after 2018. But because of the world class service that Tony provided, I decided to use them again for a buy-to-let mortgage. The experience this time around, is really quite poor, lack of communication, no update, I'm having to chase them around with phone calls, receptionist promising to ring me back which never happens. It's over two months now and the process is still not complete.

Having had Lofthouse Solicitors recommended to me by an old friend, I expected good service - but I received EXCEPTIONAL service! I recently completed a house sale with Brian Woods at Lofthouse - nothing overly taxing for an established company like them. However, Brian helped me to complete this from 4000 miles away (I live in the USA). He made the process easy, explained all the steps we needed to take, and ensured that we were kept informed at every stage. My many emails and questions were handled quickly and thoroughly. I would highly recommend Lofthouse Solicitors and Brian Woods!

Conveyancing of estate sale The 1 star rating is based on my dealings directly with Mr Dennis Lofthouse would have been minus if option was available. The reception staff are helpful and pleasant to speak to I would give them 5 stars. After completion of estate sale on 7th July I had been informed money would be in by end of following week ending 14th July however I was then told that all paperwork hadn't been done so would probably be by end of following week ending 21st July. When money hadn't arrived I called again to be told money would be processed and paid by end of following week ending 28th July. On 26th July I phoned Lofthouse solicitors to ask if money had been transferred via BACS to clear on the 28th July the answer was NO my husband then asked to speak directly with Mr Dennis Lofthouse where we were informed that he was working out of office and would call back in the morning. the morning came and went with no call back after several attempts to speak directly with Mr Dennis Lofthouse he finally returned my call. As a client I have had no correspondence personally until the 27th of July bearing in mind I have not spoken to Mr Dennis Lofthouse and this was the first and only time I have spoken to him he said to his recollection it had only been a week NO it's been 3 weeks in my opinion Mr Dennis Lofthouse was very unapproachable rude and condescending and hadn't even completed paperwork nor prepared a invoice for work carried out this is now 21 days from completion on 7th July when funds were paid to Lofthouse solicitors. Money owing to me was eventually transferred on the 31st July to my account but only after a additional payment for a CHAPS transfer to get a quick payment if you could call 25 days quick. Lofthouse solicitors were used for conveyancing as they had already been appointed via another shareholder who was using Lofthouse for probate and they held my late step father's will. I also was informed as we had a cash buyer already (September 2022) that by using Lofthouse it would be quicker and to expect the sales completion date to be a matter of weeks ! In the SRA Accounts Rules the solicitor is obliged to pass the funds on as promptly as possible and not hold onto them for longer than required. After I received my quarter share I realised that I had had a extra £740 deducted this meant that I have now paid half of money needed for work carried out to the property. My inheritance was for a quarter not half. In conclusion :- I would not recommend Lofthouse solicitors. I will never use Lofthouse solicitors again.

Really good service at a competitive price. Used on a recent property sale. Queries were dealt with quickly and it was nice to be able to speak with someone directly throughout. Thanks to Tony and the team. Would recommend Lofthouse & Co to anyone.

Good local solicitor based in a bit of a run down building. Friendly helpful staff. I do feel however they need to keep their clients updated more on the status of their current ongoing cases.
