We stayed for one night on a gravel pitch with electric hookup in our 6.5m campervan. Received a very friendly welcome at reception (we had pre-booked) and given a map showing the facilities and the location of our pitch. The facilities (toilet / shower block) were fantastic, clean and well heated. Our pitch was clean and easily accessible with electric hookup close by. The views of the adjacent lake and the sound of the swans and birds made the stay all the more special. A stunning location.

We had a lovely one-night stop at the campsite. The staff were lovely, the pitch great and the facilities were perfectly fine. The on-site shop had some tasty bits and pieces in there. Location is great for a 30 minute walk up to the main house, or a longer stroll around the extremes of the grounds. Very peaceful and picturesque site. It is a dark-skies site so take a torch! Also, the owls and bird lofe on the lake do make quite a bit of noise so pack your earplugs if you're a light sleeper! A lovely part of the world 😊

Great location to visit Castle Howard, we had a lovely walk alongside the lake right opposite. We stayed on a hard standing with electric hook up, arrived after the reception had closed but they had left a message on the door with our plot number. The facilities are very good and clean, with hair dryers too. It is a busy site so a little bit more noise and we did feel a little too close to our neighbours, not a major issue as we only stayed one night.

Very nice, peaceful campsite. A small shop on site sells the basics if you've forgotten anything. The facilities are clean if not a little dated but served our purpose during our stay. Ideally located about 1 - 1.5 miles from Castle Howard (a dedicated footpath from the site takes you to the main entrance).

Ideal site for visiting Castle Howard and the gardens. Lovely area if you have transport or buses close. Views around the area are stunning but not from the campsite. Lovely long, 7km, walk with map available from reception. Pickering and the steam train to Whitby 30 minutes drive away. Its the North Yorks Moor Railway. Check timetable first. Hard standing pitches may require ramps. Grey waste Will require a waste carrier. If coming with a large Motorhome then follow the coaches sign and not the sat. Nav. Which will take you through twi stone arches. 8’6” wide by 11’3” high. We just got through with a Pilote G741 A class. Inches to soare on the mirrors. We paid Β£25 in September.
