Toby Carvery Rotherham is a wonderful place. My wife, daughter, and I visited for the first time to enjoy an English Sunday dinner. We arrived on Sunday, 11th January 2025, at around 2:20 pm. We booked a table at reception and were advised that the waiting time would be about 30 minutes. We ordered our drinks and waited for around 10 minutes, after which we were called to our table (Table No. 27). The gentleman who showed us to the table informed us that a waitress would attend to us shortly. The first waitress was exceptional—very friendly and professional. As we were new to the place, she guided us well and was extremely helpful. Before finishing her shift, she informed us that another waitress would take over. The second waitress was also excellent, friendly, and attentive, and she looked after us very well. The food: I tried all four meats, and so did my wife. Our daughter chose turkey, lamb, and beef. The roast dinner was excellent, with fresh vegetables, mashed potatoes, and Yorkshire puddings. I give this place 100/100 and strongly recommend it. We will definitely visit again and again. The portions are generous and truly value for money.

Christmas day 2025: The lady at the front of house was lovely, we had to wait a bit for our table, but we was perfectly happy with that, we was given a drink each on the house for the wait, which was really nice of them to do that. The starters were yummy. The carvery was absolutely to die for. The desserts, again yummy, unfortunately didn't get to finish my dessert as I was just so full. Great atmosphere and lovely decorations. Had a brilliant day here today and will definitely be booking again for next year! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Usually the food here is lovely but this occasion was poor. We were advised by the carver that the beef was fatty so avoided that but the pork we had was the same and the turkey my wife had she only had a mouthful and thought it had a slimy texture to it and could not eat it. She drew this to the attention of our server. Also, the roast potatoes (which are usually lovely) were hard and dry and many of the dishes of veg and gravy were nearly empty or empty and the restaurant was nowhere near as busy as it had been on previous visits. Hopefully this was just a one-off as we love coming to Toby. I would point out though that the staff were, as always, lovely.

It was not good. Starters took 30 mins to come even though it was dead because 'she had to make the mushrooms from scratch' (?), it doesn't take that long to chop and fry a mushroom. Also the soup was supposed to come with garlic foccacia, but came with a plain bit of baguette. We stood waiting at the carvery for over 5 minutes with no service, even after we heard one of the servers shout for service. The food itself was horrific - veg looked like potpourri, tiny dried shrivvelled sprouts, peas, etc. clearly been standing there for a looong time. Meat was nice. Stuffing is always terrible so that's not news (why not just do stuffing balls?) Sausages were inedible. The gravy was atrocious, one was almost empty but managed to get a bit even though it looked cold and lumpy - the other was horrific, dried thick black skin covering the whole bowl, soo offputting. I left my phone at the table or I'd have taken a photo 😭 Regrets. We skipped desserts even though we planned on having them as we just couldn't wait to get out. When we paid, the poor lady had to hold the card machine in the air and search for signal (like a mobile phone 20 years ago), as she said it never connects - why do your own card machines not work and leave your staff messing around like that every time?! On the plus side, the women serving were very friendly and lovely 😊

Staff are so lovely and the food is amazing. The potato and carrot bake is my absolute favourite to get with my roast dinner. Not once have I ever had an issue here and I've been eating here for years with my grandparents. Tables are always clean and the overall atmosphere is very welcoming. They often have sales on such as 50% off main meals on the app which I think is a great idea. The breakfasts are amazing too, my grandad loves them. Not only are the main meals amazing, but so are the desserts. Every single time I get the brownie, I'm never disappointed. The ice cream is lovely and adds a really nice contrast to the warm brownie. Staff members are very welcoming and ensure that any problems are dealt with. One staff member who recognises us every time we come in is so lovely, she greets us warmly and often has a very brief conversation with us sometimes. Disabled parking spots made it easy for my grandma to access the building as she cannot walk far and staff were very accommodating to a wheelchair user I saw one time. 100/10 cannot recommend enough
