Not impressed at all, would not go back if this was the last fish and chip shop in the whole of Yorkshire. Looked busy from the amount of people ordering and sitting around. When ordering there were quite a few people wanting on orders, one woman had been there quite a while,as people after here were going out and she was still waiting. When we got our order, it was definitely not what we were expecting at all. We asked for 4 small fish and chips, £8.60 each for a small to be given 2 normal size fish cut in half, 2 people had to have the tail end, you wouldn't serve that to a child let alone an adult. Them getting onto the look, it was just a mess, batter wasn't very nice on the fish, not much of it either, had a funny taste as well like the oil needed changing a long time ago, the Gluten free fish and chips looked lovely nice golden batter on them, saw this from another customers order, wish I had ordered that instead now just for appearance at least. Chips were cold and dry they didn't taste fresh at all. We have been to a few fish and chips shops over the year's but wouldn't recommend this one at all.
The food differed. My batterd sausage was nice the haddock was nice. Chips well over done. Curry sauce was spicy and runny. Wasn't chip shop curry. Woman who served us was quite rude. Didn't know the difference when we asked for a large fish and chips? Asked for it to be as a take away and not sit in and I asked if she could put salt and vinegar on before they wrapped it up and she said put the salt and vinegar on that table behind me. No manners. When food came it wasn't wrapped up, you couldn't close the box on either of the food we orderd. She grabbed another tray for the fish but the box still didn't close..
Please do not visit this establishment if you expect decent customer service and want value for money. I received the smallest portion of fish imaginable for £5.60. I've had larger fish fingers! When I cut into the batter there was a miniscule amount of fish. It was absolutely disgraceful. A very disappointing experience. The gentleman that served me gave no smile, no courtesy & certainly not what I paid for. He should be ashamed of himself.
We got a big portions of chips from here for the kids (£4.70 for large chips!), they cooked them fresh - they were good!
A lovely quick service and affordable fish and chips! Got the regular? Size but it was so much quantity :)! Having some small (less chips) options could be nice. I loved that we were able to put as much vinegar as we want as well. Would love to also see some seasonal local fish option as well.
