Recently stayed at this hotel. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean and for an old building it is always warm &cosy. The evening meals are very nice and portion sizes are more than enough for even the biggest eater. The breakfast has lots of options, cereals, fruit, meat, cheese or full English. Though our orders were messed up a couple of times but staff quickly rectified it. Overall nice hotel which is a stone throw from the centre and other amenities.

Though standard rooms tired, spot less clean, bedding , towels all lovely. Public rooms clean and tidy. Lovely staff, reasonable drink prices in the bar for a hotel. Breakfast very nice buffet style. Dinner excellent, fresh cooked and hot with hot plates we could not fault and as coach trip we had live entertainment also really good. Well done Cairn Hotel.

My husband and I spent two nights in this hotel. We had a small dog with us Whilst the hotel rooms were clean and tidy we did not experience any other part of hotel as we had a dog with us. We were disappointed , although stating dogs allowed for small fee that the only area we were permitted to sit with the dog was in a boring corridor despite a large open area at entrance. We also did not eat in the hotel as no area that allowed a dog. Our main issue however was no hot water in bath / shower only hot in wash hand basin. Complaint made at front desk on first morning. Advised to read instructions ie turn on whb and bath which we did. No difference all that happened was whb overflowed so now had to dry the floor. Complaint to front desk assured us someone would be there in ten minutes. No one arrived. Tried later that day ie 5pm after getting soaked out walking in rain. Still no hot water. Cold shower again on 2nd morning. Will not be back to this hotel.

This was obviously once a "grande hotel" as evidenced by the ground floor rooms, dining area and reception. It is a a bit tired but still attractive. The room was smallish though high ceilinged and in need of updating, but clean and tidy with a decent bathroom with bath and shower( no hot water problems)Heating was good, bed comfortable and everything worked. Staff all friendly and helpful. Food good for the price, particularly the breakfast. All in all a good value break!

Booked a 4 night stay understanding we could take our small dog we were given a 8 point Pets term and conditions which stated “well behaved pets welcome and we charge £15 per pet per night” also “we do not allow pets in the public areas of hotel including bars restaurant and communal areas we do have a small seated area available for you to have bar snacks and drinks”. This area consisted of 3 upright chairs a tatty sofa a coffee table in a corridor on discussing with reception that we didn’t feel pets were welcome their reply was we don’t make them welcome we tolerate them. We also had paid for a superior room which was on the 3rd floor which looked tatty and unwelcoming we were however offered another after discussions with the manager which was on the 1st floor which was larger but still very tatty and not very clean. Due to all this we spent no time in the hotel apart from sleeping they gained no extra money from us as we spent time finding good alternate pubs and restaurants in the town who catered for dogs. We would however agree the breakfast was good but the rest was awful our advice never take your pet and we wouldn’t recommend it for their owners either.
