Shocking service. Particularly for Sunday breakfast . Food was lovely so a great chef. Let down by inexperienced staff that hadn’t a clue about hospitality. Refusing to serve breakfast initially as they said service stopped at 9.30. It is served until 10 on a Sunday . No orange juice, no cereal. We were told they wouldn’t make up any more coffee as service was finished. We informed them service wasn’t finished, we got some coffee eventually. This was a family gathering for an 80th birthday. We had booked two family rooms and had dinner the previous night. It spoiled what should have been a special treat. We wouldn’t return. It’s a shame, lovely place, nice food but absolutely shocking service.
Lovely countryside pub, brilliant location for a nice drive or walk and rest, had lunch here and was really nice, cooked great and tasted great. Our server Agnes was lovely and welcoming
Fantastic place that has really looked after us. Rooms are great ( friends booked 9 rooms separately). Great food, wine and beer selection. Vicky and the team arranged for us to have the back room with a roaring fire for the evening. Breakfast was equally good and Claire made sure everything was just right. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Highly recommended.
A great location for a pub if you are off for a short walk, a longer hike or a bike ride, but the service has always been really poor. The staff always seem overworked and don’t look that happy to be there. We visited today and we were served two pints in glasses that still had orange juice bits stuck to the inside, and when I took it back the server just went to pour it in another glass 🤦🏻♂️. This pub could be an amazing, but is largely let down by its prices vs quality and portions on its food (it’s what I would term ‘Lego food’) and lack of a decent sized bar area.
Excellent location - close to a number of Peak District attractions and hiking trails. Comfortable beds and good bathrooms, as well as friendly staff. The wifi was good, usable and speedy. Definitely recommended!
