Owner's Description

A family owned hotel, set on the outskirts of the City of York with lovely gardens and grounds. The hotel was originally a 17^th Century farmhouse and was altered extensively in 1785 to become an elegant Georgian house.

The house was the home of York businessman, Xavier Prendegast who was responsible for bringing the Beatles to York in the ‘60s. His son, John Barry was raised here and of course had a very successful career in Hollywood – the hotel was proud to receive a blue plaque commemorating his life from York Civic Trust in 2017. The hotel is naturally brimming with character and combines a long tradition of hospitality with the best of modern amenities and a classic contemporary style that our guests love.

Our 62 ensuite rooms are tastefully furnished in a range of styles – many named and individually designed around places, people and things that Andrew and I particularly appreciate. They feature all the facilities that we feel you would expect to make your stay comfortable, including free wifi, whether you’re travelling on business or enjoying a leisure stay to enjoy the very best of the fabulous City of York and surrounding attractions.
