Unfortunatey its the changing facillites, toilet (mens)and the lack of house keeping thats the issue for me! The mens toilet smells like an industrial ammonia plant and you dont need to go in to smell it ! Always nottlrs anf empty drinkd cans left everywhere on the floor at the equipment etc, the mens changing room always stinks as well, showers are not clean most of the time either. Theres ceiling tiles missing with what looks like electrical cables on show plasterboard scattered all over the floor yhats been like it for thr past week or so , IMO this is completley unaceptable for paying customers , id like to know out of pure curiosity which members of staff think changing rooms in thr pictures are acceptable? When i first joined it was very good there used to be a guy who did the cleaning and it would be spotless he took pride in his job which is very rare now days but over the last coiple of years its definatley started going down hill but this is just my opinion of coarse!
I have been attending the Yoga classes with Alice. She is absolutely brilliant. She interacts with all the members throughout the session, giving advice on your form and is very encouraging. Considering the gym is very noisy with lots going on in the background, Alice keeps you focused and calm and you certainly zone out for the relaxation at the end 🧘♂️ It definitely doesn’t feel like your average gym class.
I have attended the gym for years but felt I had stopped making progress. My eating was poor; I avoided making my own food and ate two meals a day. Devon is the first PT/ coach I have worked with. Devon lives what she coaches and is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. Devon empowers and encourages me to take accountability for my nutrition. Just a couple of months in, I now eat three meals a day that I have prepared. This has shown up in the gym where I now make progressive gains and feel more energised. Sessions in the gym with Devon have been valuable for improving my form; the smallest of adjustments make a massive difference. Devon works with me to set achievable goals that support incremental and sustainable long-term change.
Devon’s been my PT for 3 months now. Within those 3 months I’ve noticed a difference not just physically but mentally and building better discipline. I’ve been able to do this with the weekly guidance both inside the gym and out, keeping me in check and making sure I’m hitting my non-negotiables. I’ve had other PTs before and never saw a difference but with Devon it’s been very different and within such a short space of time. Looking forward to the next step in my plan for the year ahead.
The gym overall is decent, due to work I use puregyms up and down the country so have come across all different shape and sizes with varying facilities and staff, Puregym Anlaby seems to have had a turn around in staff and now have a new young team who hide in the staff areas if not doing 1 on 1 PT sessions, gym is getting busy with groups of young kids training and allthough everyone has a right to train this has resulted in machines taken up for long periods of time while they play fight, watch reels and face time in between sets, before moving on leaving there empty redbull cans tissue and unracked weights which no one seems to be getting on top of this anymore.
