Booked into this site on a grass tent pitch with electric hookup after a nearby event. When we arrived it was getting dark and we were directed to the right side of the grass site. I erected our large family tent and we got inside out of the light rain to find everything sloping. When we set up our beds it was worse as you were constantly almost rolling off. That was disappointing. The opposite side of the grass is relatively flat so we had a rather uncomfortable stay. This was exacerbated by the wind turbine, when it kicked in it was loud and annoying, and certainly not good for anyone with sensory issues ( ADHD, AUTISM) Our quiet retreat whilst I was convalescing wasn't as quiet as we imagined. A very noisy group pitched behind us and laughed, joked and watched loud football all night, which coupled with the rolling meant little sleep, and then the owners began construction work at 0800 on the holiday Monday. ( September weekend) We decided we were leaving! POSITIVES: The site is reasonably priced, has fantastic views and is close to Holmfirth. It has on site hot dish washing, blue disposal, toilet and shower facilities. The stone built toilets have heating, (however when we were there it was freezing cold and this was switched off in the gents.) The owners are very friendly and there are fresh eggs available to buy which are delicious! πŸ‘ŒπŸ» NOT SO POSITIVES: The sloping site, πŸ˜• I would never pitch a tent on such a slope by choice it led to a very awkward uncomfortable stay ( we could have moved to a less sloped pitch, but the whole right side is on a hill, the whole site is really i suppose) The wind turbine is very noisy when operating. There is at least one Cockerel πŸ“which crows loudly every morning, so no long lie ins, but.... delicious eggs πŸ₯šπŸ€·β€β™‚️. The partying footy fans behind us! 😀 (We might have just been unlucky, and they didn't stay long) The timing of the digging/construction ( again won't be everyday that this happens) SUMMARY: I would still recommend Whitegate as overall it's a good well appointed site. Some consideration for holidaymakers in their 60's and 90's who paid to relax and not to be woken by construction would have been nice, even a mention beforehand πŸ˜•( this spanned 2 days). SUGGESTION TO OWNERS: A footpath from the corner of the tent pitch area to the covered dish washing station/ toilet block would save people from having to walk all the way around and through the muddy vehicle entrance to reach the toilets etc. There is nothing in this corner to prevent it, and it wouldn't sacrifice pitch space.

Nice caravan site in a quiet location. The toilets and showers are modern and very clean. The owners are very friendly and helpful. You can buy fresh eggs on-site, which are delicious. 20 minutes walk from Holmfirth Vinyard where you can get an excellent meal. About 10 minutes drive to Holmfirth town centre which has some nice shops and places to eat. There are some nice walks from the campsite.

Great place, clean facilities, friendly owners. Pitches are very well kept. The location sometimes gets windy due to the location (so get your guy lines out!). Would we return: Yes.
