Stayed here for 4 nights . It’s a lovely site with great facilities. Only problem was the pair of Guinea foul that woke us every morning and then screamed throughout the day .They are left to roam on the CL field so no getting away from them .
Beautiful site. Well maintained and so peaceful. Great information shed with bus timetables, pub menus, local attractions, mozzy spray, dog poo bags. Lovely walks from the site, highly recommend Cooper King gin distillay on a Saturday afternoon. Community shop, chippy, pub and Chinese restaurant in village and a 40 min bus ride to York from outside the site. Will definitely be returning.
Still here as I write this. A lovely cl with ehu, waste, water and information hut. Close to a lovely village. About 15 min walk to Cantonese, chip shop, community post office and another pub which sells gourmet burgers. 20min walk down a public bridleway to a gin distillery which is open to the public 12-6 on Saturdays. Various other pubs and restaurants a bike ride away. Lots of walks leading from the site and village. The site is firm lawned. No need to worry about getting stuck. If we are in the area would definitely come back.
Brilliant site for peace and quiet. The site itself is very well kept, flat, and easy to find and access. Bags of space between pitches which was very welcome, all with a lovely outlook. Excellent information hut well stocked with leaflets, and fresh farm eggs to buy. There is a lovely walk across fields which the dog enjoyed immensely, with Daisy's Tea Rooms at Sutton Park a nice stop off before heading back. There is a bus into York which you can catch from the site entrance should you wish. The village of Huby is a short walk along the lane, and has a community shop/post office, pub, excellent Cantonese at the New Innn, and a little fish and chip shop, which we didn't get the opportunity to try, but apparently it's very good. The locals were very friendly and everyone says hello. Lovely place. The site owners were a pleasure to deal with and very accommodating. Everything was easy and well organised. Just a perfect place to chill out and relax. Without a doubt somewhere we would like to revisit in the future. Thanks for a perfect few days!
Spent 6 night here earlier this month Great site if you like peace and quiet. Lovely views over fields. 10 minute walk into Huby, the bus will stop outside the gates if you put your hand out. £6.50 return to York. Paul the owner very friendly and approachable. The water and sluice facilities are some of the best we have seen at a CL. There is also an information shed on site.
