the bed is very small and not suitable for a couple. The mattress is extremely uncomfortable, and we woke up every day with back pain. The shower water temperature constantly changes, sometimes hot and sometimes cold. Almost every day there was an event until 1 a.m. with loud music and singers, which made it very difficult to sleep. This was not mentioned at the time of booking. The room clearly needs renovation and better cleaning. The wardrobe was full of dust, and there were spiders on the ceiling. The service at the hotel bar was very unfriendly. Due to a private New Year’s party, the staff member said they were in “chaos,” and we felt like a low priority. We ordered a cocktail, but he said he could not prepare one and only offered pre-made cocktails. It is unclear why a cocktail could not be made on the spot. The reception service was also unpleasant. During check-in, the staff member was messaging on WhatsApp and answering phone calls at the same time. Terrible experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially travelers who want to return in the evening and get a good night’s sleep. Choose a different hotel.

I stayed here for 2 nights. 1st night was in the bridal suit which was beautiful and spacious. The shower water pressure was slightly disappointing though. On the wedding day morning we ordered breakfast for room service and a lot of things were forgotten, toast, cutlery, milk and 2 cups. I did feel like a nuisance for asking for things that were forgotten. On the wedding day the staff were amazing and very organised (ignoring breakfast) EXTORTIONATE food and drink prices! £18 fish and chips and had about 6 chips although lovely was not worth the money. £7.10 for a pint of Moretti! £5 for glass bottled water. Bar service was a bit slow also. Second night was in a family room which was lovely. Nice big comfy bed and a pull out sofa bed for my son to sleep on all ready and made up. Both rooms were cleaned to a high standard so props to the house keepers! No sound proofing so it was noisy till midnight. Breakfast on day 2 was pretty chaotic due to number of guests but there definitely was enough food for everyone and the food quality was top notch.

Good location, good parking but the whole hotel had a run down feeling about it. It needs a refurbishment, especially in the bar and dining areas. However the ballroom is very good. Our basic double bedroom was very small, clean but in need of refurbishment. The staff seem to be Jack of all trades, saw the same people on reception, behind the bar, serving meals and clearing up but perhaps this is a sign of the times. All staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is well placed for walking into town or walking up the road to the famous Ilkley Moor and Cow and Calf rocks.

Bed bugs! I checked in and found an insect in my bed that looked like a bed bug. I panicked and flicked it onto the floor, then went straight to the front desk. The receptionist said they also thought it was a bed bug and offered to move me to another room. I wasn’t comfortable staying, so I asked for a refund and booked elsewhere. The next day, when they called to process the refund, they said their cleaning manager “didn’t think it was a bed bug” and therefore they weren’t going to treat, deep clean, or take the room out of service. You can judge that however you like, but I’ve dealt with bed bugs before and the risk isn’t worth it. Finding one is bad enough. Dismissing it and apparently taking no precautionary action is the bigger red flag. For the price, I’d stay somewhere else.

Fabulous location right on the edge of Ilkley moor. Straight out of the hotel to an amazing array of walks. It’s a 20minute walk from the town centre. Uphill and it’s a proper lung buster! We didn’t take advantage of the breakfast as we always ate too late the night before! Rooms, we paid for an upgrade and weren’t disappointed. Lovely bathroom, huge bath and pleased to see shampoo and shower gel dispensers instead of small single use plastics, enormous bedroom, strange little anteroom with (I assume) bed settees. Two suggestions - both about the room: Would have liked a choice of cooler bedding - hottest year on record and a heavy quilt. Milk in the room. The hotel is trying to reduce their carbon footprint, so, disappointing to still see the small milk pots. Maybe time to introduce a travel fridge for small pint of milk. Delighted with our stay and definitely will return.
