•Get ready, Halifax, because a local hero is bringing the party home this summer. Imagine this: the sun sets over the stunning historic courtyard of The Piece Hall, the lights come up, and the sound of euphoric dance music fills the air. Now, add one of the world's most famous saxophonists to the mix. That's exactly what's happening, as Halifax’s very own Ellie Sax has just been announced for a massive headline concert. This special night is set to be a highlight of the TK Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall series, promising pure club energy and unforgettable summer vibes right in Calderdale.

A global star returns home
For anyone who loves dance music, Ellie Sax needs no introduction. Born and raised in Halifax, she has taken her incredible talent global, becoming one of the most in-demand saxophonists in the world. Her career has seen her perform on the world’s most famous stages, from New Year’s Eve parties in the Maldives to moonlight raves in the Caribbean and headlining iconic club nights in Ibiza, Marbella, and Croatia. This is an artist who has warmed up festival stages for massive names like Black Eyed Peas and Chase & Status. But there's nothing quite like coming home.
On Friday, 26th June, Ellie will bring her unique sound back to where it all began for a very special headline show. This homecoming concert isn't her first time at The Piece Hall; fans might remember her incredible performance with the legendary Ministry of Sound back in 2024. This time, however, it’s all about her. This is a chance for the town to celebrate one of its brightest stars in a full-blown solo concert. The event is the 40th headline show to be announced for The Piece Hall's massive summer schedule, cementing its reputation as a premier live music destination.
An iconic night of summer euphoria
So, what can people expect from this huge summer night? Ellie is promising to recreate 'the best summer you’ve ever had'. It’s about bottling that feeling of a perfect summer night and unleashing it in the spectacular open-air courtyard. Think hands-in-the-air moments, classic dance anthems, and the kind of pure euphoria that only live music can bring. It’s all about the good vibes. The show is being designed as a love letter to every iconic summer memory, powered by live sax, incredible club energy, and a touch of pop nostalgia. It’s going to be one unforgettable night.
Ellie herself explained the feeling she wants to create: “You know the ones… The summer nights when you’ve danced ‘til dawn, fell in love, lost yourself in the music, and found yourself again! I can’t wait to bring those vibes to The Piece Hall this summer, with my own live sax euphoria, club energy, pop culture and emotional nostalgia, all rolled into one unforgettable night – created especially for you Halifax party people: I’m coming home!”

And she’s not coming alone. To get the party started, Ellie will be joined by some very special guests. The powerhouse DJ duo Sigma will be there, bringing their chart-topping dance music to the stage, alongside another fantastic DJ, Taylor Shipley. It’s a line-up perfectly crafted for a night of non-stop dancing.
Putting Calderdale on the world stage
This event is more than just a concert; it’s a celebration of local talent and a testament to how The Piece Hall has transformed the cultural landscape of Calderdale. The venue has become a magnet for world-class artists, and having a global star who grew up just down the road headline the stage is a truly special moment. The historic courtyard turned into a modern-day outdoor club is a sight to behold, creating a unique atmosphere that can't be replicated. It’s a perfect blend of history and contemporary dance music culture.
Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL FRSA, CEO of The Piece Hall Trust, shared her excitement about Ellie’s return:
“A bit like this very special building – Ellie has helped to put Calderdale on the map as her success has gone global! Her talent has taken her to the world’s biggest and best dancefloors and now she’s back on home turf for her biggest and best solo show. I can’t wait to see the courtyard turned into the coolest outdoor club, with hands in the air and a night packed full of dance anthems.”
