This August, the "A Grand Day Out" event series will transform Wakefield District into a seaside paradise with free, family-friendly activities across Castleford, Wakefield, and South Elmsall, as part of the Our Year – Wakefield District 2024 initiative.

The Yorkshire Sculpture Park ranked tenth in a study by Richard Madden and Sykes Holiday Cottages of the top UK summer experiences, capturing the interest of many holidaymakers.

Bradford district offers a vibrant array of activities and events this August, including family adventures, cultural celebrations, and artistic discoveries, making it an ideal destination for summer fun.

Golf Fang Sheffield has launched a new summer offer featuring a mix-it-yourself drinks menu, exclusive deals like the Summer Jam offer, and fun attractions including a crazy golf course and cocktail bar.

The Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival, sponsored by Sky Bet, concluded its week-long celebration with warm weather, enthusiastic crowds, and a variety of exciting events across eight of Yorkshire's nine racecourses.

The Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival, running from October 10-20, 2024, promises an impressive lineup of notable guests, including Theresa May and Adam Kay, offering a diverse range of literary experiences in an intimate setting.

Red Ladder Theatre Company's autumn season features a diverse lineup of performances touring alternative venues across Yorkshire, aimed at making high-quality theatre accessible to all communities as part of their Red Ladder Local initiative.

The British Heart Foundation has awarded over £800,000 to five innovative projects, including one by Dr. Chris Wilkinson at Hull York Medical School, aimed at connecting ambulance ECG records with GP systems to detect undiagnosed atrial fibrillation.

What’s happening in Yorkshire?

The hot news this week is Egton Gooseberry Show. The 223rd show will be held on Tuesday 6th August 2024. It is free to attend and is open to the public from 2pm. There will be music playing in the afternoon and the prize-giving will begin at 6pm. Members are reminded that berries must be with the judges by midday at the latest.
