|Imagine the biggest, most floor-filling dance tracks from back in the day. Now, picture them being blasted out not just by a DJ, but by a massive 50-piece orchestra. Think violins playing epic synth lines and a whole brass section making the bass drops feel even bigger. That’s the wild idea behind a huge one-night-only party coming to Yorkshire.
Leeds’ own electronic music pioneers, Utah Saints, are getting ready to headline a massive Ibiza-inspired outdoor event that promises to mix club energy with the epic sound of a live orchestra. The Club Classical Ibiza show is set to be one of the biggest events of the summer, transforming a familiar city landmark into a proper open-air dance floor filled with iconic classics.
Big night
On Friday 26 June 2026, Millennium Square in Leeds is set to become the scene of a massive musical mash-up. The legendary duo Utah Saints are curating and taking the headline slot for a completely unique event. They’ll be on stage performing a set packed with iconic 90s dance anthems and Ibiza classics that will transport everyone straight to the White Isle. But here’s the twist: they won’t be alone. Joining them live on stage will be the full 50-piece Symphony Orchestra of Opera North.
This isn't your typical quiet concert. It's a non-stop, high-energy reimagining of club music, where the soaring strings and powerful brass of the Orchestra of Opera North will give these dance tracks a whole new life. It’s the kind of sound that makes the hairs on your arms stand up. The entire event is designed to celebrate Balearic club culture, bringing a taste of that legendary party island right to the centre of Leeds for an unforgettable summer night of dance.
A line-up packed with legends
It’s not just the Utah Saints lighting up the stage. They've put together a dream team of guest performers to make the Club Classical Ibiza show truly special. Just announced for the bill are two more massive names from the golden era of dance music. First up is Rozalla, the voice behind one of the most recognisable dance anthems of all time, ‘Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)’. Hearing that iconic track performed with a full orchestral backing will be something else.
Also joining the party are the UK rave legends Shades Of Rhythm. They’ll be bringing their classic tracks, blending hardcore beats and euphoric sounds with orchestral arrangements for the very first time in Leeds. But that’s not all. The powerful voice of Janice Robinson, the singer from Livin’ Joy, will be there to perform an orchestral version of the absolute classic, ‘Dreamer’. With a powerful ensemble of backing vocalists to support these incredible artists, the line-up is a proper tribute to the best electronic music and club classics of the era, all given a fresh, cinematic twist.
The masterminds behind the music
Putting a show like this together is a huge job. It’s not as simple as just putting a DJ and an orchestra on stage together. There are some serious musical brains working behind the scenes to make it all happen. The musical arrangements are being handled by the renowned composer and arranger Cliff Masterson, who has worked with massive artists like Ella Henderson and Labrinth. He’s the person who figures out how to turn a synth riff into a part for a whole section of violins.
Overseeing the entire performance is the Musical Director, Steve Anderson. Anderson is a bit of a legend himself, known for being one half of Brothers in Rhythm and for his long-standing work as the Musical Director for none other than Kylie Minogue. He knows exactly how to make a big stage show sound incredible. It's this level of expertise from the director and his team that will ensure the fusion of club beats and classical power is seamless, creating a truly epic sound that will echo across Millennium Square.
More than just another gig
For the Utah Saints, this headline show is a special homecoming. They have a deep connection to the Leeds club scene and have been influential figures in UK dance music for decades through their DJing and productions. They said: “We’re really excited to bring this show back to Leeds. We’ve played with the Orchestra of Opera North before and it’s always an incredible experience, but being able to curate our own full summer event in our hometown makes it even more special. Leeds has been at the heart of everything we’ve done, and we can’t wait to share this huge night of dance music and orchestral power with everyone.”
That excitement is shared by the other performers. Janice Robinson of Livin' Joy fame is buzzing to return, saying: “I am thrilled to be returning to the stage with the incredible Opera North! The way Cliff and Steve arranged Dreamer is simply breathtaking. I can’t wait for next summer’s performance; it’s going to be unforgettable.”
The musical team also can't wait to get started. Cliff Masterson said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working closely with Jez and Tim from Utah Saints alongside the Orchestra of Opera North to create yet another fresh and thrilling show in Millennium Square.” Steve Anderson added: “The existing structure of dance music provides such a great platform where we can recreate and amplify the existing scores for the orchestra, adding a truly epic dimension to how they are performed live.” Keeping the energy high throughout the night will be resident DJ, Andi Durrant, a Leeds-based presenter and producer who knows all there is to know about classic electronic music. It’s a landmark event for the region, the kind of story that platforms like yorkshire.com celebrate, and one that is sure to fill every Instagram feed with amazing pictures and videos.
