This M&S in the city centre is great! It is very large, has a great football and has plenty of clothes in stock. There seems to be an ongoing problem of the fridges not working on the first floor café, so there were a few things that we couldn't get like toasties and the drinks bottles in there were not cold, but apart from that, the staff working there was friendly, the food was served quickly and it was nice and hot!
I was trying to find specific sizes in a black suit and shoes for my son. There were no staff around on a Saturday afternoon anywhere in the men’s department. I walked to the tills and asked a lady to please help and she was amazing. Helped to to check every rack and shelf for the sizes we needed and then kindly organised ordering the items that did not appear to be in stock. She was patient, extremely friendly, professional and courteous. She alone would make me happily go back and shop there despite the lack of floor staff!
We were simply out browsing so wandering. We had coffee and cake in the cafe and it was fine. We're not shoppers but the whole thing was as expected, so all was fine. They certainly made huge improvements over the last year or so in layout and visibility of the product and also everything feels as if it's more up to date and not aimed at middle-aged women.
I needed to pop into M&S for a few items that I'd been needing. I managed to get two of their bras, which are my everyday favourite because they are comfortable and only £10 each. They had an up to 50% off sale going on, which was very popular to the customers. I picked up another pair of my favourite jeans, they fit me much better than other stores and they have a wide variety of styles available from boyfriend, to skinny and flare and other styles. They do short, regular, and long length, which is great as most places only do one size fits all, and I dont have 34" legs that these other places seem to think all women have. The queue at the till was very short, and they have self-serve option to help you pay faster if you're comfortable to do so. They have had a bit of a change in layout, and it is looking much more modern, and they are getting in some good brand names. It's one of the last surviving high street department stores, so unless you want all of your shopping online, it's definitely worth a visit. They also have a cafe and a restaurant which have reasonable prices for a city centre meal. There's kids, menswear, women's clothing, and a food hall all under this roof. There's a good number of ladies fitting rooms but can be a wait on a weekend. They even put a few chairs out for the waiting partners. Staff have always been helpful.
I like the wide range of organic food in Food Hall. There's also a great choice of bread rolls for Saturday breakfasts. This is my main place to buy groceries nowadays.
