Product Description

Drink now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. With over a century of winemaking expertise under their belt, Marani winery today specialise in both Georgian and international grape varieties grown at their estate vineyards close to the town of Telavi in Kakheti. The fruit for this cuvee comes from the Mukuzani subregion on the north bank of the Alazani river where strict rules apply to both grape growing and vinification to ensure quality and consistency. Marani handpicks the grapes at optimum ripeness before they are destemmed, crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Maturation takes place in 225 litre oak barrels for a period of 9 to 12 months depending on the harvest. In the glass you’ll immediately notice the deep red hue which is so typical of Saperavi wines and the enchanting notes of cherry, bitter chocolate, and dark berry notes. On the palate there’s a generous medium body with smooth tannins and a solid core of black fruit. The polished power and bright fruit of this cuvee make it a great match for tomato-based dishes such as lasagne or hunter’s chicken, although it can also be cellared for a few more years if desired.
