The next generation of the PGA Tour's most-played wedges, the Vokey Design SM11, continues to elevate the bar of wedge performance, delivering unparalleled flight and distance control with maximum spin. To improve upon the SM10's tour-proven performance, Vokey and his team hyper-focused on the crucial elements of elite wedge play, beginning with flight. Vokey and his team work closely with PGA Tour players throughout the entire development of every new SM wedge. During the first phase of this process, where the pros are asked what they like about the current model and what changes they'd like to see, the team discovered why so many of the world's best wedge players gravitate towards the T grind: it produces the launch and ball flight they prefer. CG, or center of gravity, is almost entirely responsible for a wedge's flight dynamics, so Vokey engineers replicated the T grind's tour-preferred dynamics across the entire lineup. Now, unlike previous SM models, which had slightly different CG positions within the same loft due to differing sole widths and geometries, each SM11 produces the launch and flight demanded by the world's best. Next, the team locked in on enhancing spin, the second of Vokey's keys to successful wedge play. Thanks to manufacturing upgrades, Vokey engineers increased the SM11's groove volume by 5% compared to the SM10. The added volume prevents spin reduction caused by debris between the ball and the face, ensuring greater consistency and control, especially from the rough and in wet conditions. The SM11 also features a new directional face texture. By creating more friction and prolonging the time the ball is in contact with the face, the texture imparts more spin and reliable control on greenside shots. The SM11 lineup comprises an industry-leading 27 unique configurations of six tour-proven grinds: A, A+, K*, L, M and V. A: Low bounce wedge originated from an L Grind with smoothed out grind edges. Resulting in a quick feel through the turf. Works well in tight, firm, conditions. A+Mid bounce wedge originated from an M Grind with smoothed out grind edges. Results in a faster feel through the turf and plays similar to an M Grind with slightly less bounce. Plays well in firm to neutral conditions.: K*: Originated from a .06 K Grind with trailing and heel relief which allows for more open face shots and leading edge grind to reduce digging on fuller square face shots. Works well in firm to neutral conditions. L: A narrower low bounce grind with heel, toe, and trailing edge relief. Works well in firmer conditions.
