Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. The Argentina Luca winery is a project begun by Laura Catena in the 2000s, with the aim of producing wines from very old vines in Mendoza. The name Luca has two meanings: it is the name of Laura's son, born in 1998, and it recalls the Latin word lucus, meaning "sacred grove," a reference to the exceptional value of these ancient vines. The Chardonnay grapes come from Gaultallary's G-Lot vineyard located in Tupungato, at an altitude of 1,500 meters. Here, the vines, averaging over thirty years old, grow in rocky soils with dense limestone sediments. After harvest and low-temperature fermentation, 85% of the wine ages in oak, 25% of which is new. The result is a balanced wine that combines the elegant style of Burgundy wines with the richness of Californian Chardonnays. In the glass, the wine reveals a brilliant color with pale golden hues. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant, with notes of tropical fruit and lemon curd, baked pear, and sweet spices, against a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is rich and velvety, with a crisp acidity that perfectly balances the fruit concentration. It is elegant and mineral, with a long, refreshing, and juicy finish. It pairs well with fish, including scallop risotto, fettuccine Alfredo, and mushroom tarts.
