All smiles and promises before the deposit is paid. Once the deposit is paid some of the equipment did not turn up at all. They did not turn up to collect when agreed, I called and explained I was leaving the site which is why I specified this day. I was told you will have to visit the branch and leave the keys. These are all time and hassle issues. When I visited the branch there were no explanations or apologies for the service. I dealt with Anthony at the Middlesbrough branch who at this point gave me completely different much higher price. When I questioned this I received sarcastic comments in response. I later found he had taken a very large amount for fuel on top which could never be justified. I should have had everything in writing upfront but they seemed genuine at the outset and the verbal price was good. My experience is that once they take the large deposit they do what they like. Its unprofessional and overall there are cheaper and better service elsewhere.

Good on tool hire cheap prices easy and good set of lads

Like the previous reviewer, we also had a disastrous tool hire experience with Jewson and Anthony at the Middlesbrough branch. I called on the morning of the hire and it was clear that the equipment hadn't even been hired out, despite speaking to Anthony last week and him confirming the date, delivery time and price. I asked him about a deposit at the time and he confirmed that it would just be £87.43 to pay. After calling multiple times in the morning and being fobbed off with excuses, Jewson finally called my husband in the afternoon and said they could get the equipment to him but they will need payment with a massive deposit upfront. My husband queried the cost of the deposit and was told "your wife will have been told before, she's clearly misunderstood" which was rude. We ended up cancelling the hire as we'd already wasted most of the day and found them untrustworthy now. Thankfully, I work close to Redcar Garden Machinery who saved the day by getting the equipment to us within less than 2 hours - and for a much cheaper price!

Great customer service, the lads in there were great, and the delivery time was amazing. I know we shouldn’t be surprised about good customer service, but so many places fall short, not these guys though. Thank you
