Welcome to Yorkshire

•A massive night of live music is heading to Hull City Hall this March, and it’s all for a brilliant cause. Daz’s Rock 4 Charity is back, bringing together top musicians, local talent, and music lovers—all to raise money for charities that support children and families in need. If you’re looking for a fun night out that also helps the community, this is the gig for you.

What’s the gig all about?
On Friday 7 March 2025, Hull City Hall will be buzzing with guitars, harmonies, and plenty of feel-good vibes as Daz’s Rock 4 Charity takes the stage. The concert is set to support the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal Fund, which has chosen Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University and Cruse Bereavement Support as its charities for 2024/25.
And there’s more. The concert will also benefit Variety, the Children’s Charity, a well-known organisation that helps children facing challenges. Daz—better known as Darren Sims BEM—is an ambassador for Variety, and he’s using his passion for music to give back in the best way possible.
A line-up packed with talent
The night promises something for everyone, from classic rock fans to those who love a bit of barbershop harmony. The main act features the talented duo Al Kilvo and David Barton, known for their piano skills in Two Pianos. They’ll be joined by a full band that’s sure to get the crowd dancing.
And that’s just the start. There’ll be special performances from:
- Humber Harmony Chorus – A local group known for their spine-tingling barbershop vocals.
- Discovery on Tour – A new group from Case Training Services, making their debut at the concert.
Of course, Daz himself will be taking the stage with a band full of legends. Expect to see:
- David Naylor, a well-known Hull drummer, playing his first gig after beating cancer for the second time.
- Dale Fry, former bass player for Les Gray’s Mud, bringing classic vibes to the night.
- Sean McBride on saxophone, adding that perfect touch to a setlist packed with crowd favourites.
Why this concert matters
It’s not just about the music (though that’s a big part of it). This concert is about coming together as a community to support charities that make a real difference.
- Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University gives children from disadvantaged backgrounds opportunities they might not otherwise have—like school trips, mentoring, and life skills.
- Cruse Bereavement Support helps people cope with grief, offering counselling and support when they need it most.
- Variety, the Children’s Charity helps children with disabilities, illnesses, and other challenges, providing everything from specialist equipment to memorable days out.
Daz, who received a British Empire Medal (BEM) for his incredible fundraising efforts, is no stranger to pulling off amazing charity events. Speaking about the concert, he said:
“I’m excited to be returning to Hull City Hall to bring back ‘Daz’s Rock 4 Charity’, which will be a fantastic night of live music. We hope to get as many people along as possible and raise as much as we can for the three supported charities so they can continue their amazing work.”
Even the Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Mark Collinson, is getting in on the excitement:
“Daz has received a British Empire Medal in recognition for the charitable fundraising he does, so he obviously knows a thing or two about these events! I’m looking forward to what should be a great night, and it’s been really good working with Daz on this.”
