Yorkshire Team

•You know how sometimes you see something that just makes you smile? Not a big, dramatic event, but a small, genuinely lovely thing. Well, something like that happened across Yorkshire recently. Forget looking for eggs in the garden; this Easter, the chocolate came by bus, with a very fluffy, long-eared special guest making sure it got to the right place. Colleagues at Stagecoach Yorkshire decided to team up with the Easter Bunny to deliver a bit of happiness to local children who could use an extra treat.

More than just driving buses
It’s easy to think of a bus company as just, well, buses and drivers. But there’s a whole team of people making sure everything runs smoothly. And this Easter, that team showed some serious community spirit. Staff from four different Stagecoach Yorkshire depots – the ones in Barnsley, Rotherham, and the Ecclesfield and Holbrook sites in Sheffield – all pitched in. It wasn't just the drivers; generous engineers, cleaners, and other colleagues all donated a massive collection of Easter eggs. It was a proper team effort. Think about it: the people who fix the engines and the ones who make sure the buses are spotless every morning were all part of this. They all came together with one simple goal: to bring a smile to the faces of young people during the Easter holiday.
A very special passenger on board
Now, getting a huge pile of chocolate eggs from A to B needs a bit of planning. And when you want to make it extra special, you call in an expert. The Easter Bunny himself decided to skip the hopping and take the bus this year. Imagine the scene: a local bus, probably one you see every day, pulling up with a giant, friendly rabbit on board, surrounded by heaps of colourful, foil-wrapped chocolate eggs. It’s not your average commute! This special guest hopped on board to help the Stagecoach colleagues with their deliveries. It’s one thing to receive a gift, but it’s another thing entirely for it to arrive in such a fun and memorable way. This wasn’t just about dropping off donations; it was about creating a little bit of magic for the children. The sight of the Easter Bunny waving from the window of a double-decker is something that probably made a lot of people, kids and adults alike, do a double-take and grin.
Delivering smiles across Yorkshire
The Easter eggs weren't just handed out randomly; they were delivered to some really important local organisations that do incredible work supporting children and their families. The teams from the depots in Barnsley, Rotherham, and Sheffield made sure the chocolate treats went where they were needed most. It was a thoughtful effort to support the communities that Stagecoach serves every day. The recipients of this mountain of chocolate included:
Barnsley Hospital: Bringing a bit of Easter cheer to children who are in hospital over the holidays can make a huge difference to their stay.
Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice near Rotherham: This amazing place provides care and support for children with life-shortening conditions, and a fun delivery like this offers a moment of joy for them and their families.
Talbot Specialist School in Sheffield: A school dedicated to students with special educational needs, where a visit from the Easter Bunny is a fantastic treat.
Westfield Community Centre in Sheffield: A hub for the local area, this centre supports families and young people, making it a perfect spot for a community-focused delivery.
By choosing these specific places, the Stagecoach colleagues made sure their generosity had a real impact, reaching children across South Yorkshire who deserved a special surprise during the Easter break.

Giving something back to the community
This whole thing is a brilliant example of a company and its staff looking after their local area. It’s something that the Managing Director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, Matt Kitchin, is clearly very passionate about. He was full of praise for the team's efforts.
“I am so proud of the team who have, once again, shown their tremendous generosity.”
“At Stagecoach, one of our core beliefs is that we will work to support our local communities – we want to give something back to the communities where we live and work, and, at Easter, this is a brilliant way to do it across the county. Everyone really got involved, and I know that our colleagues, who delivered the eggs, were very moved to see the smiles on the faces of the children, both on the bus and when they dropped off the Easter eggs.”
“Stagecoach is proud to support our local community, and we hope that the Easter deliveries brought a little extra happiness to lots of young people during the holiday period.”
And that’s what it’s all about, really. It’s not just about the chocolate; it’s about people taking the time to do something kind. It’s the engineers, cleaners, and drivers all chipping in. It’s about creating a fun memory with a giant bunny on a bus. It's a small act of kindness that, for the children who received the eggs, probably felt like a very big deal indeed.
