Published on October 16th, 2024

Need something fun, new and musical this October half-term? Xscape Yorkshire has got it. This leisure destination is turning up the noise with the new ‘Busk Stop’ a stage for local talent to shine. Whether you love music or just looking for something different this is going to add some buzz to your half-term.

Saturday 26th October to Sunday 3rd November Xscape will become a mini music festival where you can see live performances from local musicians.

And the best bit? It’s all happening inside. Let’s get the low down on what this is all about and why you won’t want to miss it.

What is the ‘Busk Stop’?

Imagine walking through Xscape and being surrounded by live music – that’s the idea behind the new ‘Busk Stop’. A dedicated area within the centre where musicians can perform live and add to the usual Xscape buzz. Whether you’re a parent out with the kids or just popping in for some shopping you’ll have the chance to hear great music from Yorkshire’s own buskers.

It starts with a bang as TikTok star and Yorkshire busker Liv Harland takes to the mic for the first performance on Saturday 26th October 1pm-2pm. If you haven’t seen Liv before she’s got a big following online for her soulful covers and original tracks. This is your chance to see her live!

A stage for local talent

Xscape’s ‘Busk Stop’ isn’t just about the entertainment – it’s also a platform for local artists to perform to a wider audience. From experienced buskers who know how to work a crowd to new faces looking for their first time performing in front of people this is all about celebrating Yorkshire’s musical talent.

Daily 1pm-5pm throughout half-term so something new every day. The performances will rotate so different musicians will be performing each day. Acoustic guitarist, singer-songwriter, duo with harmonies that’ll make your hair stand on end – there’s always something new to look forward to.

How can musicians get involved?

For musicians this is a chance to get involved in something special. Whether you’re already gigging or just starting out this could be your chance to play to a bigger crowd. And the best bit? It’s free to play.

Xscape are calling out to artists from across the region to sign up for an hour slot at the ‘Busk Stop’. Doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or an amateur the stage is open to anyone who wants to have a go. Just register your interest through Xscape Yorkshire’s website and book your time slot.

Ever wanted to play to hundreds of people in a busy location? Now’s your chance. With Xscape being a hub for families, shoppers and thrill-seekers you’ll have an audience ready and waiting to be entertained.

A buzzing atmosphere awaits

The whole idea behind the ‘Busk Stop’ is to add some extra excitement to Xscape during half-term. Jason Warren, Centre Director at Xscape Yorkshire says:

“We’re always looking for new ways to bring the community together and offer something different at Xscape. The launch of our ‘Busk Stop’ not only adds another layer of entertainment for our visitors but also gives local artists a platform to showcase their talent and passion.”

It’s a win-win for everyone – visitors get to enjoy some live music as they wander around the centre and local musicians get to play to a diverse audience. And let’s be honest, live music is pretty special. It creates an atmosphere that recorded music just can’t and Xscape’s ‘Busk Stop’ is the place for that to happen every day during the school holidays.

Who’s playing and when?

The performers will change daily so you’ll get a different style of music each day. Folk, pop, acoustic covers and originals – there’ll be something for everyone. If you’re visiting make sure to pop by the ‘Busk Stop’ between 1pm and 5pm to catch a live set.

And if you’re visiting on the first day Liv Harland will be the first to get things started. With her growing TikTok following her original songs and covers will get the party going.

How to get there and make the most of your visit

The Busk Stop isn’t just a one off – it’s part of the whole Xscape experience. The centre has loads going on, restaurants, indoor ski slopes, cinema, bowling and more. So you can make a whole day of it.

Why not grab some lunch, catch some music at the Busk Stop and then finish the day with a movie or some other fun activity? The live music adds an extra layer of fun to what’s already a great destination for families and groups.
