The UK has a deep-rooted love affair with South Asian cuisine, and Yorkshire is home to some of the country’s finest Indian, Bangladeshi, and Punjabi restaurants. This year, some of the best have been officially recognised at the Nation’s Curry Awards, and let’s just say – Yorkshire did pretty well!

Bengal Lounge Wins ‘Best of Yorkshire’

Bengal Lounge in Wetherby has been crowned the Best of Yorkshire at the Nation’s Curry Awards. The team behind the restaurant was over the moon, saying:

"We are overjoyed to declare that our Indian restaurant has won the honourable Nation's Curry Awards' Best of Yorkshire title."

They also made sure to give credit where it’s due, thanking their hardworking staff and, most importantly, their loyal customers. And honestly, that’s what makes a great restaurant – fantastic food and a community that keeps coming back.

The UK’s Love for Curry

These awards, now in their third year, celebrate the best in the UK’s curry industry. Irfan Younis, founder of Oceanic Awards, summed up the night:

“It was an unforgettable night, filled with incredible food, vibrant energy, and passionate conversations. The UK’s curry industry is a vital part of our culture.”

And he’s not wrong. From classic chicken tikka masala to fiery vindaloos and rich biryani, curry has become as British as fish and chips.
