We booked The Derwent Arms for a wedding meal quite last minute after having been let down elsewhere and the care put into everything was second to none. Happy to cater to even the most unusual of dietary requirements, and open for us on a day they're not usually open, they had also spent at least an hour folding napkins (in a colour of our choice!) into swans and making all the table settings gorgeous. The pub is already a cosy and inviting environment even without this and this is all before I even get on to how amazing the food was! It was a feast meant for kings! I'd recommend them to anyone and would definitely go again myself. Also the only pub I've ever been to with their own goat outside! Thank you for making our day so special. In summary, exemplary service and a real community spirit combined with really tasty food. A place willing to go the extra mile or ten.

What a little gem in a magical village (Osbaldwick). Lovely gentleman served us told us the best routes into York( we took the bus £3 each). Got back to pub about 9:30 a quiz was on then they played bingo. This overnight stay was £20 well worth it, we will be back.

Came in for a Saturday lunch. Dogs welcomed on the right side. Service was great but the real standout is the food. There’s a sign outside saying they have the best chips in York. They’re not joking. Proper hand cut, home cooked chips were a really welcoming experience. The burger my partner had was enormous with freshly battered onion rings. My dad’s pie was piping hot and properly made in house. Look forward to revisiting.

We (3 adults) visited on a Tuesday lunchtime. Plenty of parking and the bar staff was very friendly and polite. We ordered a pie of the day which was steak and ale pie as well as a beef burger. The steak and ale pie had a strong ale taste which I thoroughly enjoyed, the pastry was lovely and a generous amount of delicious gravy sealed the deal for us. The beef burger patty was made in the kitchen so it was extremely tasty. Both dishes came with chunky fries that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We left feeling very full and satisfied.
