Hickory's Smokehouse Horbury

We went for my nephew's birthday on 2.11.25. Myself and my kids arrived an hour early - no issues with us coming in, waiting and grabbing a drink from the bar. Our table was booked for 6:45 and it was after 7 that we were seated but the place was packed due to NFL Sunday and we were informed. Tables were set up lovely, were clean, and there was plenty of room for us all. Menus were interesting, well laid out and easy to read. Laura (Lauren maybe) our server was lovely, friendly, didn't get flustered when we said we wanted separate checks, and made sure she had taken everyone's order correctly and that we had water and popcorn. Food did take a bit, but again, it was a full place and there was quite a few of us who ordered. When it did arrive, it was hot, well cooked and absolutely delicious! Couldn't fault anything I had and I didn't hear anyone else complaining. We had a great time and we will be coming back (maybe just not on NFL Sunday) to try some more dishes!

First time visiting here and don't think I will be back. The first seating area had an air con machine that was blowing freezing cold air and on a very cold day. 03.01.26. we were moved and it was slightly better but still freezing cold. My family had the beef brisket which they enjoyed and I had the half rack of ribs. The ribs were tough, hard , chewy and dry so didn't enjoy it at all and came away hungry. Portions very small for the price. When mentioned it to the waiter he just dismissed what I said.. in terms of the environment there were lots of kids running around and just felt like a playground so was not a relaxing environment. Overall I am disappointed at this visit. The bit I actually enjoyed was the grape soda.

Fantastic meal here after a random drop in on a busy bank holiday, you could tell they were busy but the staff were fantastic & really engaged with everyone in the place, very friendly, great atmosphere and the food was amazing. Yes it's not that cheap but you get great quality food for your money. Family friendly too with a cinema room in the restaurant and a play area outside that is also dog friendly for diners too. Been here a few times now & would highly recommend, consistently great!

Me and my friends came here to celebrate my birthday a few days early on the 31st August. We were served by Louie who was absolutely fantastic, he was very chatty, attentive and catered to us very well. We wouldn’t have known he was training if he didn’t tell us! The food was lovely too! Good luck with the rest of your training Louie, we will definitely be coming to Sheffield once you move there! :)))

truly excellent service from staff, very very clean, food tasted amazing. Diego at the bar made my day, great crack and sorted me out and surprised me with a birthday hamper complete with a brand new Heineken glass i said i wanted as well as a free cocktail master class behind the bar, properly suited. would definitely recommend 🫶🏼
