The Castle Tavern Pub & Guest Rooms.

A good stay. Quite large rooms. Clean. Comfortable bed. Warm. Good bathroom. Has everything you need. Wall view. Windows were old and hard to open/close but it is a very old building. It is very noisy until 11-11.30 on Saturday with pub noise, so no good if you want an early night. However, if you are downstairs in the lively, friendly pub, listening to the live music that is making the noise, that won't be a problem. The staff are very keen to ensure that you have everything you need and enjoy your stay. It was good value for money. It is situated on the pretty market place close to the castle. Many pubs, cafes and restaurants within 200m. Parking is possible from 4pm until check out at 10am with a parking disc available from the pub. Longer parking is 8 minutes walk away and relatively cheap.

Been twice here now after hikes around Richmond. Reasonably priced. Beer was lovely, especially the Timothy Taylor Landlord. Quick and friendly service from the girls behind the bar. Plenty of comfy seating.

"stumbled" upon this classic town tavern whilst on our drive home, and quite a find. Old, atmospheric, and friendly. We were needing food, and the Sunday roast was superb, the wife had gammon, and I had the beef, stacks of veg, beautiful real mash and both meats were perfect. Worth a visit in in the area.

We stayed for 2 weeks. We had a very comfy room. Fiona and Jon made us feel so welcome. Food was great, staff was amazing and we'll definitely be back again.

We stayed in the Dale Strider room : I recommend asking for that room if you have the option: very spacious for 3 of us, amazing location, right on the historic town market place square, parking was easy, right outside, (overnight and first two hours free), staff are super friendly. The room and facilities are very basic, but reflected in the extremely reasonable room rate. Overall excellent value.
