MILLGATE HOUSE

If ever in Richmond England the only place to stay is the Millgate house. We have stayed there two times and we absolutely love it. The owners are wonderful and cater to whatever you need. The breakfasts are delicious, looking over one of the most unique gardens. It is a very special place.

A complete joy, faultless from dawn till dusk, from the bedroom to the dining room, from the home-made marmalade and other breakfast treats to an idyllic picnic in the most abundant garden, from swimming in the Swale to the hospitality of our hosts. We’ll be back!

I stayed at the Millgate House when I was performing at the Swaledale Festival. The house and garden are something else! I absolutely loved my room and breakfast was fantastic too, with great vegan options. Tim and Austin were so kind and so much fun, brilliant hosts. Even though I was there on work, and sadly only for one night, I felt recharged after my stay as if I had been on holiday. If you’re in the are, I highly recommend their lovely home.

We absolutely LOVED our stay! Austin & Tim were exemplary hosts. The house was like being in a museum, curated with beautiful antiques from around the world. The garden was like being in an Alice in Wonderland dream. Pictures do not do it justice. The rooms were spacious with oversized windows, and breathtaking views. We look forward to coming back!

The hospitality is 2nd to none. It’s a brilliant place to stay with lots of interesting things to see and do locally in wonderful countryside. Bedrooms and breakfast and hospitality are all superb. i’ve visited several times and just love Millgate House . 2024 June: I have revisited and it is as good as ever. This is far more than a B&B. It is a home that you share a few days with. The bedrooms are very cosy and retain the original wooden Internal shutters. I am always impressed that you get fresh milk, not milk jiggers for your tray in the bedroom. Austin and Tim are the perfect hosts. Every item of furniture has been well thought out before being purchased and seamlessly added to their already rich collection of Furniture. The breakfasts are delicious. The dining room is quite amazing as is the drawing room. Enchanting. The garden is run on very similar lines. Very beautiful and a tapestry of Foliage and flower, With no best soil showing. Again, a total delight. I was recommend Millgate house to anybody looking for peace and quiet, An enriching and fulfilling experience!
