We booked Castle House as it was very handy for the centre of Richmond. Upon arrival, we received a very warm welcome and were offered a complimentary drink, before being shown to our room. The room, although quirky, was very clean and tidy. Although the building is dated, this only added, to the charm & character, which grows on you. The bed was very comfortable & we didn't have any noise from people passing by our room, so we had a good night's sleep. The staff were very friendly & helpful throughout our stay. You have a wide selection of breakfast, which includes fresh fruit, cereals, porridge, fruit juice, full English breakfast, toast, jams etc, tea & coffee. You can choose anything from the menu, which you fill in the night before (including your choice of time to eat). This allows the staff time to prepare & cook your breakfast fresh for you, so the food is served hot, not kept warm for ages. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay & we would definitely return to Castle House, the next time we're in Richmond.
Located at the heart of Richmond and a lovely old building. The room was well appointed with an efficient shower. I enjoyed the quirkiness of the wonky floors and old and beautiful wood furniture. The breakfast was excellent. I had porridge and my partner had a full English.
Very friendly staff and easy check in. I slept very well and the room was comfortable and quiet. The room was very clean which is a bonus considering the age of the property. Nicely appointed with tea/ coffee and wonderful biscuits! The wine on check in was really nice too. The only comment is that some of it looked a bit tired, however it was the kind of tired that makes it more comfortable and homey.
Luxury is supposed to evoke images of opulence and an experience of great comfort. As well, you'd expect exceptional service and hospitality. No. Not here. The building and rooms are tired and dated with a mish mash of antiques dotted about to try and convince you that the establishment is quaint. The bed was clean and the bathroom was sufficient, but the rooms in general need a good freshening up. We were greeted pleasantly enough, but the only other sign of staff was at breakfast, where our food was presented hurriedly and cleared away even faster. The location is great for getting around Richmond by foot. All in all, there is no luxury here, aside from the price. This was a less than mediocre experience at best.
Great location in the centre of Richmond, rooms are a little dated and a bit quirky, but very clean. The breakfast is spot on. Parking is fine once you get a special disc. Just don't arrive before 4pm you can't get in.
