Great little bar, friendly welcome and reasonably priced. I will definitely return here next time I'm in Selby.
Exactly what Selby needed. A classy, relaxed and compact bar with remarkably competitive pricing. First a heads up: there's limited seating, and it is popular. The unofficial etiquette here is that spare seats are shared, there's no table hogging, so you'll also end up making new friends as well! The selection is broad from locally brewed Jolly Sailor ales to Neck Oil session IPA. Zero alcohol includes Heineken, Erdinger and Guinness (full pint from a smart pour system, not a 500ml can you can get from Lidl!) The wine selection is hand picked from merchant (no "I heart" anything, or slumming it through Bookers!) and the spirit selection is extensive. All high brow, but the price is market leading, showing other hotels with bars in the town how to deliver exceptional service with a fair price. With authentic York Stone flooring from the old Abbots Staith and a back wall of the original warehouse constructed of limestone from the middle ages, the atmosphere whether empty or packed is phenomenal. Well done to Richard and Stephen for developing Selby's best microbar, you've absolutely smashed it.
Fantastic new addition to Selby and much needed: it is clear that a great deal of thought has been put into the conversion and it is a beautiful space. Great range of drinks at very reasonable prices, including locally brewed beers. Friendly staff behind the bar, who are always happy to have a chat and a laugh. It is dog friendly, including Bailey the pub dog, to the extent that they have provided blankets and treats for them.
Lovely atmosphere, great prices. Would go again
