Really nice fish & chips. Fish was fresh, oil tasted fresh. Not a bad price either. Served very quickly, plenty of seating. Fairly busy. Lots of parking right outside but we had difficulty parking as it was all full. Staff were really nice, efficient and a truly lovely story written on the wall about the owners family / business history! A truly lovely touch. Amazed by how many awards they'd also won. Very impressed. Will be back next time I'm in Selby. They also have a takeaway next door too!
Had to wait as we ordered 1 special large haddock plus chips and 1 regular fish and chips plus 1 mushy peas plus 1 gravy both small. When we got the food home both were in same size box and fish of a similar size. The food tasted great but we did not receive a large fish! However we paid for a large fish.
Fish and chips are gorgeous, this is our first takeaway choice in our neighbourhood, very tasty, friendly staff and good service. The curry sauce this time is not as good as before, we are wondering why.
Ordered fish & chips and battered sausage and chips for two of us. Service was slow, portions were small and was over priced. Supposed to be very popular, but I found that value for money scores 5 out of 10
We sat in the restaurant. I had a medium fish, chips & mushy peas. My fish was really small- child sized. The waitress said it was medium & that it was £9. She did offer to change it but my husband is already eating & I thought £9 was okay. Because it was small it was overcooked & you could see that much of it was batter. The batter was nice & crunchy, though. Turns out my meal was £12- the fish was £9 alone 🤔 My meal was also very bland. My husband had a large fish & chips which looked like a medium. He ate it all but wasn't blown away by it. I used to come here about a decade ago with my dad & it was always lovely. I don't think there's anything nicer than a sit down fish chips & a cup of tea but today it was lacking. I definitely don't think it was worth £35. We come from Doncaster & we won't be back.
