Salary £35,000 per annum, full time, permanent. Salary is reviewed every 18-24 months. Reports to Managing Director and works to both Lead Energy & Carbon Engineer and Lead Environmental Manager where relevant. Individual will need to pass enhanced DBS / security checks. Schedule Monday – Friday Flexible working around core hours. First 4 months office-based full time; and able to work from home on agreement. Ongoing expectation to work from office weekly (Selby) for meetings etc, but flexibility to work from home. Drive or public transport to client sites is non-negotiable. Clients are predominantly Yorkshire and North West England. However UK-wide travel is required, overnight stays where necessary, as well as sporadic overseas travel. 25 days holiday + bank holidays. Essential Competencies · Degree-level qualification in sustainability / environmental management / environment science / geography / business and the environment. Or can demonstrate an equivalent level of qualifications via alternative routes. · 3-5 years' hands on experience in environmental management systems and carbon footprints. · Able to complete practical organisational carbon accounting i.e. not using specialist carbon software, across Scope 1, 2 and 3 of emissions. Requires a good working knowledge of GHG Protocol. · ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification - proven experience at leading environmental audits and evaluating environmental legal compliance. · Competence in the use of Microsoft Office suite. · Full UK driving license and own vehicle. · Experience and working knowledge of UK environmental regulations and carbon reporting frameworks and legislation. · Able to work within a small team environment, and manage own projects and workload once issued. · Self-motivated and organised. · Excellent communication and presentation skills. Individual will need to speak, train and engage with a range of staff at client sites at different levels e.g. shop floor, engineers, managers and directors. Desirable Competencies (Not Essential) · Knowledge of Environmental Permitting and reporting. · Presentation / Public Speaking experience. · Experience of developing inventories and carbon targets for SBTi submission, including FLAG emissions. · Practical experience of developing Product Carbon Footprints. · Practitioner level membership of ISEP (PISEP). · Knowledge of “net zero” strategies for different sectors. · Understanding and experience of Emissions Trading Scheme and willingness to learn CBAM requirements. Description ESL would like to recruit an Environment & Carbon Consultant with 3-5 years' experience in the sector who is keen to build on their existing experience in helping a broad spectrum of organisations make environmental improvements. This role is designed for someone who already has a good working knowledge of environmental management, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor skills, carbon accounting experience and knowledge of carbon reduction strategies. As a small consultancy, our consultants often act as client managers for specific clients. This means maintaining day-to-day relationships, coordinating delivery and ensuring projects run smoothly. This role suits a versatile, delivery-focused consultant who is comfortable managing multiple defined workstreams while continuing to expand their technical expertise. You will support and deliver live projects from the outset including site work, data analysis and client-facing delivery, with guidance and oversight from senior consultants as appropriate. Activities include: · Deliver internal audits for clients who have Environmental Management Systems in place, against the requirements of ISO 14001, and support clients to make any improvements. This includes writing of audit reports. · Develop Carbon Inventories for organisations, including Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 that follow GHG Protocols. · Producing SECR disclosures and wider GHG reporting outputs, including CDP-compliance for relevant clients. · Support organisations to set science-based targets and help clients through the validation process. · Develop Product Carbon Footprints. · Support organisations to implement ISO 14001 and ISO 14068 (Carbon Neutrality). · Any other reasonable request in the field of carbon, energy and environment within the role's competency. · Support colleagues in the delivery of projects for larger clients.
