I would suggest caution when purchasing used cars from here as this dealership does not take its Consumer Rights Act obligations seriously. I bought a vehicle from here which had numerous problems from the get go, most of which were eventually resolved. Some were caused directly by their corner cutting, but that’s another story. One of the problems was that 6 weeks after purchase, after covering about 1200 miles I found metal filings in the oil. They chose not to do anything about it at that point claiming that it was “running ok so they can’t do anything”, which seemed bizarre to me. I said I’d keep an eye on it and a few months later, when I found more metal in the oil, they tried to twist it and imply that I was somehow at fault and I’d “voided the warranty because I’d put my own oil in it”. Funnily enough, they obviously didn��t read their own warranty because it says it doesn’t cover pre-existing faults, which this was, so they’re on the hook for the cost under the Consumer Rights Act regardless. So I took it elsewhere to have someone who knows what they are doing fix it. When it was stripped down it turned out that the metal in the oil was due to a disintegrated balance shaft chain guide, which meant the chain was slack and scraping aluminium off various components. There was no other cause found for metal in the oil, so this was obviously like this when I bought the vehicle. This is apparently a fairly common problem with the A20NFT engine which you’d expect a Vauxhall service centre to be able to identify. It’s more common when the engine is poorly maintained, and given the muck and sludge inside it, this one didn’t look particularly well maintained despite apparently having a full service history. Go figure. The plastic and metal floating about in the oil also led to oil pump damage and big end bearing damage causing additional expense to rectify. As others have also experienced, none of the managers at Walkers will engage with me about this issue, presumably because they know they haven’t got a leg to stand on. I fully intend to get at least some of my money back and will take it as far as I need to take it to ensure that, but I shouldn’t have to. I would think very long and hard about whether you want to buy a used vehicle at this dealership. You might be fine, but if there’s a serious issue expect them to wash their hands of you.
