|Enter Shikari's Frontman Takes on The Artilleryman Role for April 2025 Performance
Rou Reynolds, the dynamic lead singer of Enter Shikari, is set to join the cast of Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds: The Spirit of Man Tour 2025. This exciting announcement comes on the heels of Enter Shikari's triumphant UK arena tour and a sell-out show at Wembley.

Reynolds will step into the role of the enigmatic Artilleryman, a character previously portrayed by notable performers such as Jason Donovan, Kevin Clifton, Adam Garcia, David Essex, and Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs. Joining him on stage will be The Wanted’s Max George as Parson Nathaniel and Maisie Smith as Beth, the Parson’s Wife, with further cast members to be announced.
Rou Reynolds expressed his enthusiasm about joining the production:
“I first discovered Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds through my dad and uncle, who grew up being blown away by the original double album. Their great respect and enthusiasm for Jeff’s work makes it a true honour to be involved. I’m excited to be playing the role of The Artilleryman and stepping into the shoes of luminaries such as David Essex, Ricky Wilson, Adam Garcia and all those who’ve played the role before me.”
Jeff Wayne, the mastermind behind this celebrated musical, praised Reynolds, stating,
“Since 2006 when we began touring arenas around the world, I’ve always been thrilled to welcome what is now a long list of great artists. This coming tour, for the role of The Artilleryman, I reached out to the lead singer of the wonderful Enter Shikari - Rou Reynolds - a massive talent whose voice thrills, and his personality matches. He will create his own interpretation of the enigmatic Artilleryman.”

Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds is renowned for its innovative combination of live music, immersive experiences, and ground-breaking special effects. Celebrating 130 years since the publication of H.G. Wells’ seminal novel, the 2025 tour promises to elevate the experience with a monumental 17-date (19 shows) UK and Ireland arena tour. Since its debut, Jeff Wayne’s adaptation has captivated millions, becoming one of the best-selling musical works of all time with over 16 million records sold worldwide. The double album, which has charted in 22 countries and achieved platinum status in multiple regions, was re-imagined in 2012 with contributions from stars like Liam Neeson, Gary Barlow, Joss Stone, and Ricky Wilson.
The musical has seen global tours, including performances at prestigious venues such as London’s O2 and Manchester Arena, and an extended 86-show season at The Dominion Theatre in London’s West End in 2016. In 2018, an Audible Original Musical Drama featuring Michael Sheen, Taron Egerton, Theo James, and Adrian Edmondson was released, further expanding the musical's reach.
The War of The Worlds Immersive Experience, which incorporates VR, AR, holographic performances, and live actors, has become a multi-award-winning attraction. Originally slated for a three-month run, the experience is now entering its fifth year and has been extended for another two years, with an updated version set to launch in February 2024.
