I came to do my Christmas drink shopping this morning as I had amassed quite a few club card vouchers and there was 25% off wine. Can only describe the experience as truly upsetting. I had been using scan as you shop which I have been using for many years without issue when I was selected for a bag check. I let the lady checking my bags know that I thought there might be a security tag on the 2 bottles of champagne and asked for these to be removed. As I was talking she said ‘you haven’t scanned one of the bottles, it’s not showing up on your list, there is only one bottle scanned.’ I was absolutely mortified and apologised profusely for the mistake ( I felt like Richard Madeley on his shoplifting spree). She proceeded to scan the ‘unscanned’ bottle of champagne and I paid and left the store feeling like a criminal. In the car home I was genuinely quite perplexed by this interaction as I could have sworn I had scanned the offending bottle of champagne but doubted myself. Once I checked my receipt sure enough I had been charged for 3 bottles of champagne instead of the 2 in my possession, needless to say I was quite irritated! So I trailed back to store explaining the issue and got a partial refund as some of the money was refunded in club card vouchers I had spent over £135 in total with £34 of that being on vouchers so to add insult to injury I wasn’t refunded in cash just by the vouchers I had been saving to do this Christmas shop, pathetic! May I suggest if you want loyal customer who spend thousand of pounds on shopping each year to return maybe train your staff better to do their job rather than implying customers are thieves and double charging them. The whole experience has been absolutely scandalous and has put me off from returning to this store.

On Sunday 11th January I went into the store to the mobile shop to cancel my dad’s account as he had passed away in November 2025. I was grieving and crying when I spoke to the assistant called Elliott. He was extremely empathic towards me and shared an experience of his own which comforted me. I asked if I could hug him as he made me feel so much better and lighter. I just want to acknowledge this and say thank you so much Elliott for your time, knowledge and experience. Thank you so much!!!!

Cafe ordering by touch screen is misleading! Prices shown against each item are misleading. Tax is added just before you pay. Impersonal and robotic. Implemented for store convenience rather than customer ambiance I think. Worst of all, staff from customer service left his position for around 20 mins whilst chatting to female colleagues (and obscuring one of the touchscreens) in nearby seating in Cafe. We're customers supposed to serve themselves there as well? On the plus side Cafe staff were helpful and pleasant.

Will not be shopping here again! Unsure of the woman’s name (Katie or something similar) but the staff on self service are so rude! Supposed to be a manager but clearly hates her job. Not only that, but they chat and laugh with other colleagues about what customers are buying. Very unprofessional.

I would just like to give a big thumbs up to the young checkout lady who served us at the Sheffield Superstore on Abbeydale Road this afternoon. Her name is Charlotte and she was on till 20. While we were waiting she was serving an elderly lady and the way she spoke to her and the way she helped with her packing was wonderful.
