Great value and location is really handy for Whitby as a shortish walk downhill into town if you’re there to visit it. Staff are super-friendly, Carolyn was fabulous. Rooms are simple, but still well appointed for the money paid. Would highly recommend.

The staff are always friendly, helpful and take time to provide a good service. The accommodation is in a good state of repair and decoration. The facilities provide everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The breakfast provided a good choice of food and was nicely cooked.

Visited here just after Christmas- the full menu wasn’t available- so we had to go with our second & third choices. Unfortunately I had to get another portion of fries as the ones that came with my meal weren’t hot or fresh - however, they were changed quickly and without fuss. Only appeared to have 2 staff on at the bar /waiting which seemed a lot of pressure on the staff. A little overpriced for the food offered but it was nice. Wine was a little expensive by the glass too. We tend to visit here when we visit Whitby as it’s close to where we’re staying and within walking distance

Staff are really friendly & extremely helpful, they’re always available. Rooms are clean and when you put the sign on your door to refresh they will, hotels I have used in the past just tend to do the basics. We were gutted had to leave sooner than expected due to snow but they even came out & wished us a safe journey. Will definitely be using Penny Hedge again.

We came for a meal and it was absolutely delicious. The steaks were beautiful as was the mixed grill. The staff are brilliant and can't do enough for you. Phil is absolutely brilliant and is very knowledgeable about the menu and we agree that the baileys sundae is fab. The pub has a great play area and they are very welcoming to families. The kids menu has great options and is affordable. Thanks for 2 great meals.
