History of Yedingham
Yedingham has a rich history, with Yedingham Priory established in 1163 and home to Benedictine nuns until its dissolution in 1539. The original bridge crossing the River Derwent was built in 1731, with the current bridge constructed in 1970. In 1986, the parish was abolished and merged with Ebberston, forming the current administrative entity of 'Ebberston and Yedingham'.
