|A Weekend of Mystery, Strategy, and Deception
Ever wished you could outwit your friends in a game of Werewolf or master the art of bluffing in Blood on the Clocktower? Well, here’s your chance. From August 8th-10th, 2025, Demons Wake—Europe’s largest social deduction gaming convention—is taking over York St John University for a weekend of thrilling mind games.
Whether you're a seasoned strategist or just getting into hidden role games, this event promises three days of intense gameplay, special guests, and community fun.
What’s Happening at Demons Wake?
This isn’t just a gathering of board game lovers—it’s a full-blown social deduction experience. Expect:
- Organised game sessions featuring classics like Avalon, Mafia, and Werewolf
- Panels and Q&As with gaming industry guests
- A massive board game library for open play
- A dedicated Discord and event app for matchmaking and planning
- A costume contest—because who doesn’t love a bit of dramatic flair?
- A scriptwriting competition for Blood on the Clocktower
- Quiet zones for when you need a breather
- Local traders selling gaming merch and more
The convention is fully accessible, welcoming players of all mobility levels and neurodivergent needs.
Who’s Coming?
Some big names from the gaming and entertainment world will be there, including:
- Ben Burns – No Rolls Barred storyteller & Twitch streamer
- Ivan Brett – Author of The Floor is Lava, BBC’s The Traitors
- Holly Musgrave – Actor, writer, musician, and Twitch streamer
- Patters – Popular Blood on the Clocktower YouTuber
- Ken Cheng – Comedian and poker pro (BBC Radio 4’s Chinese Comedian)
- Zak Robinson – Musician & Blood on the Clocktower storyteller
And more names still to be announced!
Who’s Running It?
The minds behind York Board Games Convention (which had a fantastic run last October) are back—Ryan, Matt, and Jamie—but this time, they’re going even bigger.
Ryan, the lead organiser, is hyped:
"The community around social deduction games is so fantastic and vibrant, and it's growing all the time. People are so welcoming – it's just going to be loads of fun!"
Tickets & Dates
🎟️ Tickets go on sale March 21st, 2025. Prices start at £50 for a weekend pass, with an early bird discount (10% off the first 100 tickets).
