I love this store. Feels very clean, tidy and organised. The food looks fresh and the bakery smells delicious. The cafe upstairs is lovely and always so busy. That said it doesn’t take long to get a table or our food. Any problems that have arisen during our visits, which is rare, have been rectified with quickly.
I have elected one star as I could not progress without it. This service is disgusting. I bought a box of Belgian chocolates two weeks ago for a Christmas box. Wrapping them today and discovered that they were best before last August. That's 4 months ago. I rang to see how we could resolve this and asked for the £18 I paid for them to be put back on to my credit card. The lady I spoke to said she could send me an e-gift card that was all. I challenged her and she put me on to a manager in Chester who was very apologetic and said that she couldn't refund me my £18 because it needed to be done by the store. She asked for my permission to pass my details to the store manager in Vangarde so that I could be contacted re my refund. I waited patiently for the call. Just received an email for an e-gift card. Absolutely disgusting. M & S . More B & M. Ridiculous. Will definitely take this further
Wow this is a lovely M&S. Just wish my local M&S could be this good. Food store well laid out and knowledgeable staff. Clothes department the same. Loads of free parking. Only 2 hours parking on match day. Other nice shops near by to.
Had to travel to York from Hull as Hull does not have Marks & Spencer’s clothing shop ( stupid decision to close ours) The journey to this store was manic when I got within 8 miles due to an event in York city centre , The roads near the location serves the Football/ rugby ground too. Leaving the store which I have the utmost respect for and was worth the journey, But those roads are a bottle neck. Parking was no problem plenty of spaces and no charge. If I return it will be mid week not a busy weekend.
WARNING: unless you want a side order of food poisoning, I would avoid this cafe like the plague! I visited the cafe with my husband and 9-month old daughter yesterday. I ordered a Salmon Royale roll and gave a little bit of the roll to my baby. 6 hours later, both my baby and I were being violently sick and have been all night. We contracted food poisoning!! Not only is this very disappointing from a trusted brand like M&S, but it is extremely worrying as parents to have our very vulnerable infant so poorly. It's absolutely disgusting! Needless to say, I will never dine at another M&S Cafe again.
