Came in on Sunday night for our last evening in York after a great weekend. We fancied some live music and after googling we stumbled across this great place! The counterfeit celts played first, and a highlight was playing a song I requested by one of my favourite singers. We planned to stay for a few but ended up staying for hours. Highly recommend if you fancy some live music, fun and some great Guinness!
Fantastic start to a day in York passed this Ealing up from the train station and thought we would give it a try. Perfect point of Guiness there was a singer in who was just brilliant and really got the crowd going and it was only early afternoon. We was on our way to a function or i think we would still be there now deffo on the cards for another visit.
If you like live music, Guinness and a place styled on Temple Bar in Dublin you’ll love the Dubliner. If you want to sit in a traditional English pub with a pint of bitter, (nothing wrong with that) this isn’t the place. Being upset that this isn’t a traditional English pub like the Maltings, which seems to be the theme of the negative reviews, is a bit odd to be honest. The Dubliner clearly isn’t trying to be that. The reason there’s a queue from 5pm on a Saturday is because people are prepared to wait to go in. This might be frustrating but it’s not the fault of the venue and it speaks volumes as to what folks think of the place. Also, it’s not ‘all hen nights’ as alleged in the reviews on here, there are loads of locals patronising the establishment. It’s okay not to like a busy ‘Temple Bar’ style place, however, to give a place a bad review because it’s not the kind of traditional pub you like when you’re spoilt for choice in York is weird. Just go to one of the many brilliant traditional pubs we’re lucky enough to have here in York instead.
Great atmosphere, however I left as soon as I entered as I cant even hear myself think with all the noise on a Friday night. Good that they sell Guinness here
All i can say is what a pub. Brilliant staff brilliant selection of drinks with music all night long to satisfy your taste just my type of night. You need a place to go there no place like the dubliner
