I went to see this years panto production at Joseph rowntree theatre. The show was really brilliant; the cast excellent; costumes sparkling; scenery colourful. This theatre has such a friendly atmosphere; the staff so courteous and go beyond to problem solve. There is a bar now so meeting friends before the show is more comfortable. I’d recommend this venue and it has easy access by car as there is plenty of free parking.

Came to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Lovely atmosphere, the volunteers really made us feel welcome. The show was excellent with a mix of darkness and humour. The cast sang and danced their hearts out. The theatre is roomy, with plenty of leg room in the rows- important if you have long legs. I have been to lots of shows and always enjoy them. It isn’t in the centre of York but is well worth a visit.

We've been to two shows recently at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, mainly to entertain our young granddaughter and inspire in her a love of the theatre. She has really enjoyed both performances and we will definitely go again. It's a lovely theatre - small enough to be intimate but big enough to hold a decent-sized audience. Both shows were of a very professional standard in terms of acting, costumes and staging, but far more reasonably priced than the average professional show. Highly recommended.

We went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last night. Having seen the original London show several times, we were excited to see the musical again. We were not disappointed; the sets looked great, and the singing and dancing were excellent. It was the first time we'd been to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, but it won't be the last.

Wonderful art deco theatre with comfortable seating. The staff are really helpful and delivery of the interval refreshments to your seat is a nice touch. We saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and it was fun and well staged, the trolley lady was absolutely hilarious! Well worth a visit
