The "Eye of York" is the name for the courtyard space in front of Clifford's Tower and the York Castle Museum, enclosed by these historic buildings and the York Crown Court. This public space is named for its historical role as a meeting point for the Ridings of Yorkshire and is being redeveloped into a greener, more welcoming area for the public, including new planting, pathways, and seating to enhance the historical importance and to create various types of spaces for relaxation, play, or events.
Interesting place. Unfortunately it was raining at the time. The area is enclosed by York Crown Court and York Castle Museum, made up of the Debtor’s Prison and the Female Prison. In the center grass was a carousel
Visited during the Jorvik viking festival. Well thought out, planned, and executed. Great historical place to visit.
