York Rowntree Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite

Came here for Christmas for the 2nd year running and had a lovely time at this site again. The facilities are warm clean with pipping hot showers . The wash up is enclosed and warm. Pitches are well maintained and the site is very tidy. It’s very close to York Center about a 15 minute walk. Masses of restaurants, shops , theatres and there’s museums also. A nice touch was on Christmas morning there was a tub of chocolates outside our van…. Probably Father Christmas Definitely be back.

This was our second visit to this site. The facilities are really good. Plenty of toilets and showers which are spotlessly clean. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The walk into the city centre is along the picturesque river Ouse and takes around 15 mins. Already looking forward to our next visit. 😊

We arrived to a good number of pitches been reserved and a white peg pitch was allocated to us. A nice white peg pitch was not available due to the numbers reserved. We therefore had to park on a corner opposite the toilets with people regularly cutting across our pitch. The toilets whilst lovely need more cleaning. The first morning one shower had been left with hair and tissue all over. We truly believe the site are saving pitches and we asked why there were so many reserved white peg pitches and were told it was because of the length of the vehicles. We saw lots of vehicles not as long as ours on better located white peg pitches. We have been coming to rowntree many years and are doubtful we will be returning. The staff are not as friendly and we spent ages waiting for the barrier to be lifted which resulted in a queue of vehicles wanting to acccess.

Great site a 10/15 min walk to centre of York on the riverside next to a lovely park area with shops / cafes / restaurants behind the site. Toilets clean with hot water and plenty available despite it being a large site. We were on a pitch that you could have an awning but some without an awning looked bigger- (don’t really understand their ‘white peg / blue peg system). Nice walk along the river away from the buzz to York marina for a lovely cuppa / cake and back the other side of the river (good 8 miler). Plenty cycle routes nearby - we have done the orbital route previously. Expensive site but great that we could use our free night here so good value.

Great site in the centre of York. Very short walk to most attractions. Right by the river so liable to flooding. Would highly recommend. Lovely staff and large pitches. Very busy. Surprising quiet for the location.
